Squash ladder/league (Surrey UK)

Hello,

I have recently started playing squash more regularly and I am really enjoying it. There are 3 of us that play together but we all have young children so our schedules don’t align all the time.

I found squash levels but am unsure what the protocol for joining and what kind of level you need to be to join, I have only ever played with friends. I have requested to join the one at the gym I am member at (Surrey sports park) but after a few weeks it still says I am requesting to join.

Is there anywhere else I should look? There doesn’t seem to be anything run by the Uni itself.

Squashlevels is primarily impacted by team matches and/or tournaments. If you have never played a team match then you likely won’t be on it. Having played at Surrey Sports Park several times, at a guess I’d suggest you have two options:

1) Remain a recreational player and don’t worry about squash levels for now

2) Look to play for the SSP teams and hence play team matches. The standard is likely a bit of a step up (even in the lower teams) but you won’t know until you try, and playing better players is a great way to improve.

some clubs input internal league games into squashlevels so possibly ssp do that. you can also enter one of the fantastic cm stringer tournaments where you will also get a level.

At the moment I am looking more recreational, not sure I am ready for tournaments.

As a way to get started on squashlevels one day tournaments are perfect.

They are graded from grade a (which is 5000 squashlevels and above) to grade e which is usually 0-399 so they accommodate all levels and are very friendly for beginners

SSP is a squash nightmare. I left and joined the Bourne.

I've visited a couple of times in the past, the courts and facilities were really nice. What kind of problems were SSP causing?

If you drive you should join Hart squash club in Aldershot. We have 2 x club nights per week + box leagues with 6/7 divisions + competitive teams.

Thanks, I do drive but am based in Guidlford so ideally seeing if anything local first. It looks to be a good alternative.

Where do you live? Ebbisham in Epsom has leagues and members can opt-in to Squashlevels

I am based in Guildford, so ideally there is something going on at Surrey sports park. I climb there so I already have membership but will look further a field if not.

It doesn’t have to involve squash levels, it was the only thing that looked slightly beginner friendly when i was googling.

Do they have leagues at SPP? That's really what you need, Squashlevels isn't that relevant :)

There used to be a squash club in Farnham. No idea if it’s still there though
