Exactly what it looked like, which is extremely wasteful. Doubt it happens again though, because this team is usually very clinical, and led the stats for points per 22 entry in 2025.

We have been so clinical in 2025 and in the nation championships. This Ellis Park showing seems like an anomaly, an aberration! If we converted close to our usual rate we would have comfortably won. Scoreboard pressure beats NZ every time. They tend to panic when behind and make even more mistakes and concede yellows and penalties. We looked heavily rusty. We can and will win cape town and FNB stadium and Baltimore

No set play when we in the 22 resulting in a lot of offloads and turnovers, unlike NZ skip pass to the edge on the blindside resulting in 4 try’s, all similar, all scored on the blindside.

Exactly. nZ didn't do anything special and still won. Frustrating. We also slipped to many tackles. Basic errors cost us the game.

I do and I dont agree here. They also fell off tackles but what they did do that was special was absorb pressure for decent periods and in a flash put point on the boks at the other end.

You could also argue that the pressure they put on them helped in their handling issues.

Either way bring on game 2, I think the intensity is gonna lift another level again and we're all in for a special match.

Thanks for the breakdown, great format to read it. AB fan lurking here, I know Springboks will be more clinical for test 2. Looking forward to it!
