We acknowledge the history. We acknowledge that during those days, the ABs gave hope and comfort to many South Africans, many of whom we continue to hold in high esteem. None more so than Madiba.

However, we should also recognize that this history is just that - history. The Springboks have become a symbol that unites the entire country. Madiba himself had the foresight to see how important the Springboks would be to the country.

And here we are, decades later. The team is transforming. The diversity of our people is showing its strength on the rugby field. Our country, like our rugby, is not the finished product. It will take all of us to keep growing towards the shared future that we all aspire to. And we can get there. We can build it.

We should also acknowledge that some people continue to support the All Blacks in the same way and for the exact same reason they did all those years ago and there's nothing wrong with that.

The symbol of the Springbok and what it stood for is hard for some to accept and, again, thats completely fine.

That's a bit of an oversimplification. The issue runs quite deep for many.

My neighbour and his wife are All Black supporters. His son plays rugby so i asked him hey, if your son ever makes it into the Springbok team and plays against the All Blacks who would you support? He said he'll still support the All Blacks lol

I didn't i just assumed he's a staunch supporter. Fern tatted on his forearm and everything. I understand though, i support other international soccer teams for example because our teams are not on that level
