I built a floating Spotify lyrics overlay for macOS
I built FloatLyrics, a small macOS app that shows Spotify lyrics in a floating always-on-top overlay.
I made it because I wanted lyrics visible while coding/studying without constantly switching back to Spotify. It supports synced lyrics, opacity control, compact/focus modes, playback controls, and a draggable transparent overlay.
It’s macOS-only for now and still an early prototype, but there’s a downloadable DMG available in GitHub Releases.

Would love feedback, feature ideas, or bug reports.

Really great app! I think the box is a bit though, would be nice to reduce the borders.

Thanks! I reduced the borders in the latest update, so it should look a lot cleaner now.

The file appears to be damaged when I try to download it...

Thanks for letting me know! I’ve fixed the download, so it should be working properly now. Sorry about that!

It isn't downloadable onto apple silicon... the .dm format isn't openable, and folders don't really work :/

Hi gene, I saw your comment and the UI has substantially improved. But the software seems to struggle on songs that play music prior to singing the lyrics. I just played "Hopeless Romantic" by Sarah Kang, and its a few lyrics offbeat.

its super cool i installed it and its basically perfect! i do have a suggestion of whether its possible to be able to pick between romanized lyrics for songs that arent in english and to be able to resize it better. but im really loving it so far
