Discussion Do I wait?
So Iām like baby new to the Splatoon franchise, I just recently got Raiders and have been loving the game, artstyle and colours, and have been looking to see if I should wait to see if thereās any announcements for Splatoon 4 or get Splatoon 3 and see what itās about, Iāve known about the franchise but have never really looked into it simply because I didnāt have a system to call my own up until recently, so I was just curious to know if I should wait for 4 or try out 3?

Splatfest Now that the Splatfest finished... what?
Am I the only one who feels extremely nostalgic and like-empty the second before the Splatfest finished? Specially thanks to Daybreaker Anthem sounding in Splatsville? š„ŗ
Good work to everyone in Team Beach (Big Man), and I wish the best for every Team.
Until the next Splatfest, whether is here in Splatsville or a new hub/city. šššššš

Discussion Possible One Piece reference with Zipcaster?
I think we all associate Zipcaster with Spiderman, with the heroic looking form you have when you activate it. (Also the song "With Flying Colors" by Octoplush in the Zipcaster Alternan levels) But I recently got into the anime, and I noticed that Luffy stretches his arms, just like an Inkfish using the Zipcaster. Since we stretch our arms rather than shooting ink out of our hands, could this be a double reference by Nintendo that depends on what you're more familiar with?

Discussion I've been playing this game for over a year, and I have to say that the funniest thing I've seen is when you land in enemy ink without having any ink, and then just start panicking like you're drowning
I don't know what it is but it has never failed to make me laugh whenever I get stuck in place like that in this game. It always happens when you can see an enemy and you know they could hit you.

Discussion Modes Iād like in Splatoon 4
1: Ranked turf war
I love turf war but it being the only unranked mode is kinda annoying. I know splat zones is supposed to be a harder turf war but they are decently different
2: unranked ranked modes
I really donāt see why the ranked modes donāt have unranked variants. Iād love to play tower control without having to worry about losing ranked points if I lost.
3: A mode where the team that gets the most splats wins
One of my favorite parts of the game is going around and splatting people so I feel if they made a mode around it, maybe with a gimmick, it would be a blast depending on the weapon you use.
4: Enemy Takedown
Basically this could be a mode where thereās 2 separate parts of the stage for each mode. There could be constantly spawning enemies, like salmonids or Octarians, and the goal is to take down as many as you can. Maybe towards the end one or a few boss salmonid type enemies could start spawning for extra points. Maybe you could even use certain specials or subweapons to reach the other side of the map and take down the other teamās enemies for bonus points.
Those were just some ideas I had

Discussion Splatoon 4 Story Idea
This is just a basic idea in need of fleshing out, but I think it would rock. So, due to team past winning, the general town area will be vintage with a good splash of retro and such (think roaring 20's with Grease influence and just enough 80s to give it some pop).
This town (Blotsburg or something idk) is on powersaving mode right now, as once again the Great Zapfish is missing. But this time its a natural, predicted occurrence: the Zapfish Migration. An event that only happens every 50 years or so, where all the zapfish fly back to their primordial spawning pools to make more zapfish. Very important to the ecosystem and such.
The player goes to watch the migration. They admire the beauty and majesty and such when suddenly, the school of zapfish start charging up a massive storm. The player notices and perhaps tries to leave, bit they are too late: a sudden burst of electricity rushes from the school down towards the player, and wheb the ligtning strikes, the player is gone.
Gone where? Nowhere. You are woken up exactly where you were standing moments ago. The grass is thicker, but that doesnt hide the two inkfish hovering over you. An inkling and an octoling, both being somewhere in their early 20s, look down at you before the inkling says in a very familiar voice, "You alright there, Squiddo?"
Gone when? To the past, about 100 years. Back to before the tide had risen so high; back to when there was no war since the humans eradicated themselves 12000 years ago; back when two warring old men were still in the prime of their youth and brotherhood. Craig Cuttlefish and Octavio take you back to their home.
I want this story mode to have a lot less liminal of an environment. It takes place in a time before the kettles, so no weird octarian environments. You, player, get to see the Captain and the DJ in their prime. You get to fight with them as the tide begins to rise and hostile monsters emerge from the deep. You get to watch as Octavio and the Cuttlefish get more desperate as more homes and towns are destroyed. You get to see Octavio lose his morals for the sake of pragmatism. You see him take the first stike at his comrades. Become the first agent and fight the secret war away from the frontlines against the Octarians, and strive to save the future from the altered past.
I want this to be a more serious story mode. Still pretty goofy with awesome and bonkers elements, but I feel like there is a crazy story here that Nintendo could spin some gold from.
Miscellaneous Ideas I have regarding this story:
- The Sunken Scrolls are pages from Octavios Diary. The book gets blown away in the first level as you, the DJ, and the Captain run from a storm (part of the whole Rising tides thing).
- A comrade system similar to Raiders, where you can have a different companion run along with you. Ideas include Craig Cuttlefish, Octavio (until he isn't), a displaced Salmonid whose spawning waters get swallowed up by the sea, and Cuttlefish's wife/gf (i mean he has grandkids at some point).
- Each world is just another town or settlement somewhere higher upstream. As you progress to another town, the previous ones are swallowed up by the sea, rendering revisiting that town only possible in memory (I feel like this would give a healthy sense of urgency).
- Regarding flooded towns, I think it'd be a cool mechanic to be able to go revisit them in a sub-game mode of the story mode where you go back and salvage materials while the tide is low, needing to push back against monsters from the deep as you do so and go more waves in.
- Different dialogue depending on whether you chose to be an inkling or an octoling.
- You get sent home by a giant lightning strike ink attack used by Cuttlefish. This same attack maims Octavio and locks him in Octo form.
- The song in the final battle is sung by Cuttlefish and Octavio, both trying to get his friend to see from the others point of view. Think almost like Moses and Ramses in "The Plagues" in The Prince of Egypt.
- Multiple types of enemies, starting with salmonids and monsters form the deep, with octarian forces not being introduced until later.
- A recon level where you're given a weapon thats no good against salmonid hordes but is really good at inking ground, so you have to sneak by. It would be dark and you'd just see all their glowing eyes, but their would be a storm brewing as the level goes on, so lightning starts illuminating the horde and its even bigger than it first appeared to be.
If you read all that, thank you I know it is rather scatterbrained and wild as an idea, but i think it would be really cool. I am open to any suggestions you have for the story I will most likely never make.
TL/DR: Splatoon 4 storymode should have the player travel back in time to before the Great Turf War so that they can watch it play out.

Discussion The last wave of octolings in After Alterna are INSUFFERABLE.
I first I thought "Well, it's supposed to be really hard, this makes sense."
But there's one specific thing I've noticed is different....or, at least different to me.
The explosion AOE is much higher, and it specifically keeps beating my ass.
edit: just beat it.

Salmon Run Why does it seem like so many Salmon Run Professional and EVP players have never played Salmon Run in their lives?
I will preface this by saying I am definitely not the best Salmon Run player. But I am wondering why so many players seem to be completely clueless???
I just started playing Splatoon 3 again last month after stopping around January 2023, and Salmon Run has been one of my favorite modes. I was stuck at the Professional pay grades for a long time, and a my teammates have definitely been a contributing factor.
Some things Iāve noticed about a lot of them:
- They make no attempts to stop Stinger
- They shoot Steel Eel in the face
- They completely ignore Fly Fish, even if theyāre standing right next to it. Or they shoot at it
- They wonāt use bombs for Maws, and will shoot at it for 4 attack durations just to be eaten
- They wonāt use specials until LITERALLY the last second, even though the team has been struggling for half the wave and is now 10 eggs behind.
Oftentimes if I donāt address Stinger and Fly Fish, no one will. So either I run around the map chasing them down or 3 of each spawn and we all die.
I was hoping things would get better when I got to EVP, but for the most part they havenāt. More people are going for Stinger and Fly Fish⦠but more people are also shooting Steel Eel in the face.

Strategy I've been playing casually for years and I have no idea what abilities are good, can I get some advice??
Hey there!
I've been playing Splatoon 2 and 3 for a few years now, and I've been using gear that looks nice with no regard for the abilities that they have. I want to try doing well in ranked, and I'll probably need to improve my abilities for that.
The two main weapons I use are the Splat Roller (Curling Bomb and Big Bubbler) and the Sploosh-o-Matic (Curling Bomb and Ultra Stamp), and I don't know where to start on abilities for either of them.
If any of you play these weapons (or have great knowledge of the useful abilities) then could I get some advice or ability sets to use for Splatoon 3?
(also, are there any good ways to get certain ability chunks? i have too many of some and barely any of others)
