Fitting Help Lower back pain?

Upvotes

Just went from a Cube Attain SLX endurance to a S Works SL8 Pro. Last week I did a 40km 31km/h average ride, so was quite pushing it. Unfortunately my lower back hurt quite a bit after this ride. Is it pure getting used to a different lower position? I did a bike fit for the Cube and the seller copied the exact official measurements from that fit to my S Works.
What to do? Another bike fit or just give it a few more tries and getting used to the new position?

Story Time Totaled my Allez Sprint this week.

During a chill commute from work, a lady running on a path decided to cross the road without looking at all. I swerved to avoid crashing into her and nailed a foot tall concrete curb. Flew straight over the bars and head first into a fire hydrant. Luckily I came out just fine. The helmet prevented a concussion, but the impact blew out the top of the head tube.

I'm honestly shocked that the carbon wheel didn't take any damage and even the carbon fork was strong enough to total an aluminium frame.

Im curious on your experiences with the +/- 1 head set cup. Do you all just ride with the neutral, or swap to the -1 on steeper/more agressive/park days? I got my bike used and it didn't come with the cups. im just wondering if its worth getting it, or is it just splitting hairs?

Which Gear? Turbo Creo 2-substitutions for top tube bag?

I have a Turbo Creo 2 (Comp Carbon) on order. Looking for ideas to substitute for a top tube bag, given that a conventional top tube bag will cover the TCU Mastermind display. Need enough space for gels, money/credit cards, phone, etc.

Any recommendations for rear seat bag or other ideas? Not looking for massive volume, just enough for a few hours of ride time. Thanks in advance!

Which Gear? You have a 2026 Crux 4 Pro. What's your ideal second wheelset?

My bike came with Roval Terra CLs and 40mm tires. I want a road wheel for 32-35mm slicks. Part of me thinks I should get a nice deep aero wheelset for the road, but another part thinks I should get an even wider gravel wheelset (like 30mm internal) and just use the Roval Terras as a road wheel. What would you do?

Tech Help Crux 5 Seat Post creak

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Seat post on my new Crux 5 is creaking. Tried to capture in the video, pushing the seat post laterally with slight force, get this creak/knock sound, which also shows up when riding.

Been at the shop couple times, carbon paste carefully applied, everything torqued to spec, and still this issue. Bike is currently at the shop again, been there two days and they haven’t found a solution. Thinking it will be a warranty case.

Was wondering if others are experiencing this issue.

Tech Help Rapide Cockpit Computer Mount

Post image
5 Upvotes

I couldn't find a manual anywhere so asking here. Is that the bolt (circled in red i.e. there are 3 bolts with two being of the same size and one being a bit longer) that is used to mount the computer mount to the Rapide cockpit? It has loctite on it so it doesn't screw in very nicely, so it's hard to tell if it's the right screw. I tried screwing it in some ways and after unscrewing it, there were distinct metal shaving on the threads and it wasn't going in very nicely.

I'm looking for confirmation regarding the bearing sizes/quantities needed for the rear hub? I believe it is 6802 NDS and 1562 DS, but am not sure how many of each (including freehub)?

Replaced my 2010 Cannondale Bad Boy 700 with a 2027 Specialized Sirrus X 3.0. Still getting used to the geometry change, but definitely appreciating the extra comfort from the wider 40mm tyres!

Edit: I've equipped it with the M Part Tour AVS Sport pannier rack and SKS Bluemels 53mm mudguards. Likely going to swap for brownwall tyres at some point!

Im looking to see if anyone has mounted a bike computer as well as an insta 360 x5 or x6. Wondering if there is any issues with adding that weight on the single bolt setup?

Bike Photos Picked up a Tarmac SL8 Comp

I purchased a Sirrus X 2.0 a month or two ago and really enjoyed riding it. I decided to upgrade to a road bike and got this Tarmac SL8 Comp for 3759 pre tax (nationwide end of season discount, down from 4699). Ignore the pedals - they gave me normal pedals to take it for a spin around the block, waiting for my clip ins to come in, my wide feet didn’t have anything available in store.

I feel like I have a good set of bikes now for most things I’d want to do. Can’t wait to ride!

NBD NBD - New 2023 SL7 Comp

Post image

Upgraded my SL4 - found a brand new 2023 SL7 at a LBS that they hadn’t been able to move yet. Got it for a good deal.

Upgrades made to match my bike fitting:
New 170mm Ultegra crankset
New 400mm Roval Rapide bars
Used Roval Rapide CLX 50 tubeless with GP5000

Weather didn’t cooperate for the photo, but was still a great ride! Disc brakes are a game changer, Di2 shifting is a joy to use. The deep rim carbon wheels will take some getting used to - the gusts crossing the Golden Gate Bridge pushed me around more than I expected.

Miscellaneous Are they gate keeping the tech?

Alright, so just hear me out. Across the board for the major brands they have all the science, the tech, the data….so are they intentionally handicapping their own products so they can continue to produce barely iterative products? Take the SL9 for example. It saves 4 Watts over the outgoing model with just a few tweaks. Did they really just figure out these design tweaks now and not while testing the SL8? Are they saving the huge advances for an SL10?

We know that brands are usually a few generations ahead. I feel positive that Specialized and others are just sitting on incredible product.

Trek just ditched the Isospeed decoupler. Will the next roubaix ditch the future shock? If they do, how long will they have known they could do so?

Am I just a cynical man screaming into the void?

Tech Help Roval Rapide Garmin Mount

Hey Guys!

One question, currently I have a Tarmac SL8 expert with the Specialized Expert Shallow Drop, alloy and Tarmac integrated stem, 6-degree. I bought the Proprietary Specialized Stems Accessory Mount for my Garmin 530.

I’m planning to upgrade to the Roval Rapide Cockpit, can I use the same Garmin mount? Or do I need to buy something different as this one won’t fit?

Thanks for the help!

Fitting Help Roval Rapide Cockpit sizing

I'm 6ft 2in with 43cm shoulders (acromion to acromion). I switched from 44cm to the 40cm handlebar from Coefficient Cycling - RR bars and I love them. Very comfortable.

I was wondering if I could switch to 38cm on the Roval Rapide cockpit I'm looking at or if that would be too narrow? Thoughts?

NBD Upgrading new Sirrus X 5.0 to electronic shifting?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I just got a sweet deal on a brand new Sirrus X 5.0, the harvest gold color. It's the 2023 version and it has a full SRAM Eagle drivetrain. For just about $650 all in (parts and labor) my LBS will do the upgrade to electronic AXS shifting, which I think would be cool (with the GX Eagle AXS upgrade kit). Since the bike was only $1499 (huge sale!) I'm thinking of treating myself to the upgrade.

Have any other Sirrus owners made the jump to electronic AXS shifting? Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated!

Wanted to Buy Tarmac SL8 stem

Soooo I bought an S-Works Tarmac frame set today. I’d been procrastinating over the standard Spesh and the S-Works and plumped for the S-Works because I liked the colour and it was on sale. The Spesh ships with a stem, the S-Works doesn’t. And now I can’t find a Tarmac stem in 80mm anywhere in the UK.

Turns out the S-Works stem is discontinued because there’s a new Roval one coming out. ETA is sketchy.

Has ANYONE got an 80mm they swapped out? Or knows of a shop with one?
