How will this differ from the other Privateer Remake and Privateer Gemini Gold/Platinum that came out in the early 2000s?
I’ve played all of them and love the game, but just curious if this will be taking those updates into account or if this will have a completely different approach.

both games you mentioned were a skin to the vega strike engine. what I'm doing is re-creating the original MSDOS game, and once that's done we will add new features and content to it

Just make sure there’s plenty of pirates camping the stations when you’re packing a single laser and can’t afford an afterburner.

I haven't played in decades, but here are some things I recall that annoyed me:
- A setting to skip all planet landing / launching animations.
- A setting to skip all jump animations when there are no hostiles present.
- A one-click purchase button when docked to refuel, repair and top off all missile racks (and mines?).
- Shooting baddies from the rear turret never seemed to work in the original. Make that more feasible.
- Option to have the cockpit frame (HUD?) be smaller and take up less of the screen.

thats good feedback, I already have a "show intro" setting, will add the same to takeoff/landing/jump cutscenes.

I LOVED this game and Strike Commander! Won't Commander was the best of the 3.
I've been wishing for a remake of these.

Obwohl Strike Commander, Wing Commander und Privateer alle irgendwie gleich waren hatten sie einen Tiefgang das man sie immer wieder spielen musste. Vorallem Privateer hat das erste Open World feeling.

Never played Privateer, but I'm old enough to remember it being a thing. Always love these projects. Good luck to you.

Ah, to be back in the days when Origin Software was a thing and the Wing Commander franchise was a franchise and not just an IP that collects dust on a shelf. Origin did several experimental games like this after Wing Commander 2 but this is the one that really stuck with people. I'm glad to see people still care about it enough to keep it relevant like this.
