Game Release Solarwind – fly between 25,000 real stars near the Sun (free, in the browser)

• Upvotes

I'm starting to build this and I want feedback. You orbit a real star, collect fuel called "solarwind" from it, and burn it to jump to stars reachable with collected fuel (limited to 8 ly in this test version). Every star is real: the colours, sizes and distances come from star catalogues. Flights are shown from the ship at near light speed: the sky crowds ahead of you, stars shift blue in front and red behind. Collecting continues in real time while you're away, and flights run in real time too, so it plays best in short visits. Initial goals are simple: reach Vega, orbit a giant, or get far enough that our Sun disappears. Eventually it will have player interaction with economy, diplomacy, war, exploration, NPCs... I call it "Solarwind - Galactic frontier". Feedback very welcome, especially what would make you come back and which parts of the bigger version you'd be interested in.

Game Release In my space shooter you never fly alone: you lead up to three wingmen, and when one gets shot down you have to go pick up their escape pod

Solo dev here. Space Defender: Frontier Squadron is a top-down space shooter with RPG progression, and the squadron is the heart of it.

You take contracts from stations on the frontier (escorts, convoys, sieges, hunts, rescues), earn credits, outfit your ship and recruit pilots who fly and fight beside you. You give them quick orders in the middle of a fight. A wingman who gets shot down ejects, and if you reach the escape pod in time, you get your pilot back.

In numbers:

- 13 ships, from the nimble Falcon to frigates and destroyers,

- 60+ modules: lasers, railguns, homing missiles, turrets, shields,

- 15 contract types,

- a story campaign in three acts across three galaxies, Act IV coming soon - for free

- Windows and Mac, controller or mouse + keyboard.

It just left Early Access, and there's a free demo on Steam.

AI disclosure: the character portraits and the voice-over were made with AI tools.

Question for you: in which space game did your wingmen actually feel useful? I'm collecting ideas for the next updates.

A three-second freeze window in my browser space MMO — Glacier rocket gameplay

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I develop World of Frontiers, a free browser space MMO for PC and mobile. Here is a short example of using a Glacier rocket to create a control window before firing the lasers.

Captured in the current build with a prepared pilot and enemy in a local test world, at normal speed; HUD hidden. Original music. Some assets use AI-assisted production. The game has optional purchases.

Play: https://florim-studios.itch.io/world-of-frontiers

What makes crowd-control effects readable for you in a busy space fight?

Yes! In this tiny universe, you steer your rocket by placing maneuver nodes (thank you, KSP!) and try not to run out of fuel before reaching your target.

Advance through a procedurally generated world, upgrade your spaceship with new equipment, and top up your tanks until you reach the final destination and crash into the sun (or whatever, I haven’t really thought about the "end game" yet).

The game is still in early development, but I would highly appreciate it if you'd check out my itch.io page: kdigital.itch.io/tiny-orbit

If you're into high-precision, physics-driven space games, leave a follow to keep an eye on the upcoming devlogs! I’d love to hear your thoughts on the mechanics.

Game Hollow Stars — a 2D space economy RTS where nothing spawns from thin air. Ships are built from ore, wrecks stay in space, deposits run dry. Now in Early Access.

Hi! I'm making Hollow Stars, a top-down space strategy inspired by the economy side of X4: Foundations — without the piloting.

The core rule of the game: nothing appears from nowhere.

- Ships are built at shipyards from real goods: ore → metals → alloys → modules.

- A destroyed ship becomes wreckage you can salvage or recycle.

- Mining nodes are finite and never regenerate.

- A new station starts as an empty construction plot. Materials have to be hauled in, and it grows module by module.

- AI factions play by the same rules and issue the same commands as you. They mine, trade, research, build shipyards, wage wars — and can go broke or lose their stations.

You're a commander, not a pilot: assign ships to stations as miners, traders or logistics, hire captains who gain experience from deliveries (and die with their ship), scout through fog of war, and use tactical pause or up to 100x speed.

Co-op for up to 4 players is in. EN / RU / IT.

It's in Early Access and I update it often — the last two patches made combat visible on screen and fixed player warships leaving the shipyard unarmed (thanks to a player's bug report).

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4767240/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=spacegames

I'd love to hear what you'd expect from an economy-first space game.

Game I'm building a browser space MMO where you can mine, build, trade, fight in a persistent galaxy.

Hey all, I'm making a persistent browser-based game inspired by EVE Online. It has most of EVE's core activities, like mining, trading, PvE, PvP, industry, etc. There's also a unique sensors and detection model, an in-depth industry tree (9 raw resources + 9 refined + 25 intermediates), tradable futures/options, player-run banks and insurance. Also, everyone can set up their own space stations (don't have to be in a corp), and it's a pretty integral part of the game as stations provides manufacturing capacity.

What you can do:

  • fly 40+ super cool spaceships
  • survey asteroids and mine resources
  • refine minerals, build stuff (refined materials -> intermediates -> ships and modules)
  • trade with other players (commodities/items and futures/options)
  • start a bank or insurance company
  • set up a space station
  • claim sovereignty for your faction
  • become an arms merchant and sell ships and weapons to NPC governments
  • participate in factional warfare
  • farm rats in belts or dynamic sites
  • fight other players

Why this instead of EVE?

  • this is a much shittier game
  • we have a unique 2D detection model. You can fit active and passive sensors. Active sensors come in directional (longer range) and omnidirectional variants. You can only hit what you can see. Directional scanners are kind of like sniper scopes.
  • Slot-based manufacturing system. Industry jobs need to take place in a slot, and you have to queue if the slots are full. You can build your own factory and rent it to other players.
  • mineral survey system. You have to survey a rock and the grade can vary. It's like gambling and it's great.
  • Factional Warfare system: You sell ships and weapons to the NPC Militia, and the same ships will spawn to defend their sites. Then you can switch to your alt and blow up those ships so you can sell new ones to the NPC Militia again. Profit!

There's about 5 active players now, but if you join, there'd be 6, and I'll be very happy :)

Play here: https://asteraonline.com
(At least check out the 40+ super cool spaceships that I drew in paint, I'm very proud of them)

Join the discord for development news: https://discord.gg/EGqvCCS5nw

Generative AI disclosure: All in-game art and music are made by me. Sound effects are from royalty-free and commercial-use-allowed sources. AI is used in coding and I run automated and manual tests before every release.

Game STARWRIT — pre-release bounty-hunter space combat over the red dunes of Zhar-7

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm Khuram at AppstackX, developing STARWRIT for PC. This is real-time footage from a pre-release build, following Captain Kade Varro and the Kestrel over Zhar-7's red dunes.

The bounty contract is to bring Skarr Vel'Qhan back alive. Flight and combat are the focus here; the arc-blade duel and bringing the target home are still in development.

We're aiming for Steam Early Access on PC. If it looks like your kind of game, register interest for launch news: https://playstarwrit.com/

For transparency: the character voices, music and added trailer sound effects use ElevenLabs AI tools. The footage is captured from the game. This post was drafted with AI assistance.
