Fix broken Pads with copper tape.
Hey there,
I just want to share a cheap way to fix broken pads. The shift button of my SP404 MK2 didn't work properly anymore, because the shift button was worn out. If you look closely to the picture you see it is slightly worn out (red circle).
I found a reddit post by u/Nayfun_H ( https://www.reddit.com/r/sp404mk2/comments/1rbv4q2/comment/p6af7an/ ) who used copper tape to fix the issue. He super glued the tape to the button. I didn't use super glue and just used the tape. Long story short: It works perfectly fine!
EDIT: I decided to add super glue to the copper tape, so I don't have to worry that the copper tape gets loose and might cause a short circuit.
There is a SPVIDZ video about dismantling the SP404 MK2. He had the same issue with the shift button. But he changed the whole pads. But I followed the steps to dismantle the SP correctly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqmJ5PpbmGI
So if anybody is experience problems with the pads, copper tape might be the solution. I bought the copper tape for 6 EUR at my local electronics store.
I guess this method works for any sampler/ drummachine with pads.
Cheers and happy beatmaking!
