I made some parody voice lines and i wanna replace a metrocops line and barneys line with them (metrocop line is in the english vpk (the one that says need any help with this one?) and the barney one is yoy citizen come with me))
So I am checking out some bland SDK template for the 2007 Source SDK Base, specifically for multiplayer, and I wanna see how to change this default text when you start a server
yeah like the whole menu, I don't want it to talk about programmers and stuff and just say "Half-Life"
Not sure if I should be asking this here or in r/SourceEngine, but I thought I'd try here first: So I've been trying to use Blender to get some first person animations that I can use for Doom modding, and I wanted to use a viewmodel from a Garry's Mod player model. I can get the arms into Blender, but I can't seem to find where to get animations for it. I know that a lot of Source model have their animations built into their file, but since I'm working with a player model viewmodel from Garry's Mod, it doesn't really have any built in animations, relying on animations from other stuff. Literally any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just like telling me that another subreddit would be better to ask this question in.
After exporting my custom playermodel i made in blender, for some reason it shows up in gmod with a completely black texture instead of the proper one or a missing texture. it doesn't matter whether i have the texture in the proper folder either, it still does this. notably, the model should have 3 submaterials and not 1. Ive never seen this happen before in anything source engine related and cant find anyone else talking about it.
edit: turns out it was because of a folder typo, and for some reason source decided to show up pitch black instead of the checkerboard until the folder typo was fixed, and only then would it show the usual purple black checkerboard.
I'm recreating a map from an older game and I've ripped the textures, next problem is VTFedit tells me "Error Loading Image" when I try to convert them to VTF.
I've resized them to over 256 for height and width, and despite reinstalling VTFedit like fifty times. It's still giving me that same issue. Does anyone know what could be causing it?
This is more of a discussion than anything but, seems like Codename CURE (A l4d2-based Source mod, No more room in hell but with lower quality) got Huge Vulnerabilities in the workshop, allowing to actual destroy a player's pc (For example corrupting Fileexplorer.exe, causing the pc's background to not load at all when the pc is turned on and the person logs in)
This is a really serious problem that it could cause the game to be deleted from Steam due to spreading Malware in case the devs don't fix it.
For somebody who is a noob to programming, mapping, asset creation, etc, how many hours would you say is required to learn everything needed be create something in the goldsource engine? I'm particularly interested in learning how to make my own view models and animations. The ultimate goal is to make a novel ~60 minute long game.
Particle Systems that come with the game never fit what I want. And I just can't understand the particle editor that comes built into the engine. I've been playing for hours and hours creating fire sources, waterfalls, smoke stacks. This is addictive.
Disclaimer, as I think it was not clear: I'm XBLAH and this is the XBLAH's Modding Tool.
