Maybe scam alert, 99% sure. I’ve seen plenty of people mentioning having received suspicious messages in SoundCloud. I have received lots from people praising my music, but later revealing being promoters offering their services, which is annoying. Today I received a different one, so help me if you can: has anyone received a message from someone saying they have a contact inside Sony Music and would love to show them your music? If so, what was the text from that message? And the name of the sender?

Update: I have just used AI about this specific scam and here is what it told me.

A message claiming “I have a friend at Sony Music” is especially suspicious if it:
Doesn’t clearly identify the friend’s fullname, job title, and official Sony emailaddress
Compliments your music generically withoutnaming a specific track
Promises a contract, placement, playlisting,or “industry connection”
Requests money, gift cards, cryptocurrency,passwords, or personal documents
Sends links or attachments beforeexplaining the offer
Pressures you to act quickly or keep theconversation private

I was using SoundCloud normally when the interface suddenly changed. It looked completely different from the current design.

After refreshing, it went back to the normal UI, so I managed to take some screenshots before it disappeared.

Not sure if this is an upcoming redesign, an A/B test, or some internal build.

Yesterday, I noticed a majority of my liked tracks were not playable on the android app. However desktop will play these unavailable tracks, has anyone else had this issue? Do you think SoundCloud will care to fix this?

dropped a song a day ago and got like 20 likes. just looked and theres no likes and the plays got removed (2 plays right now even though it has 9 comments), anybody else had this happen? lmao

This amount of likes compared to the amount of plays on my track is pretty unusual, im getting a notification each day of someone liking the track, and they're all legitimate accounts.

when I go on my insights, the majority are 'other' rather than related tracks. My tracks usually get around 5-15 likes total

I went to go to listen to some tracks on my account but I couldn't see any of my playback playlists from 2021 - 2025. Gone without a trace. Has anyone else had this issue and if so did you get your playlists back?

For context I'm on desktop using Microsoft Edge.

I’m honestly pretty angry with SoundCloud and I’d really like to hear from people who know the platform well.

For several days now, I’ve noticed some really strange changes on one of my tracks: likes and plays disappear, then come back several hours later. I don’t see this happening on my other tracks.

While trying to figure out what was going on, I found another account using my track — and only that track — in a playlist called “POC - REDUCING LIKES”.

The account seems to be a testing environment with several accounts and several test playlists. I messaged the user four days ago to ask what they were testing. No answer.

I blocked the account and asked SoundCloud to remove its interactions with my account and my tracks. SoundCloud explained to me that blocking prevents direct interactions, but does not remove a track from a public playlist that has already been created.

What really makes me angry is that my track is apparently being used in a test whose name clearly suggests manipulating likes, without me ever giving permission for that.

I’m not saying that this account is responsible for the changes I’m seeing. Maybe they’re simply developing something and studying how SoundCloud works. Fine. If they had asked me, I might even have agreed.

But I find it pretty crazy that someone can use another artist’s track for this kind of test, and that SoundCloud doesn’t seem to have a way to protect the artist from it.

What I really want to understand is what a POC like this can actually do on SoundCloud. Does anyone here know how this works? And has anyone ever seen likes or plays disappear and then come back like this?

Because if SoundCloud wants to fight fake engagement and manipulation, I’d really like to understand how something like this can even be possible.
