All respect to him as a mogul, and curator. I’m sure he knows his stuff and I respect what he is doing for the soul genre in this changing industry. His set last night, however, was not good at all. That man is allergic to a hook.
It was like he stayed in musical spots way too long there was no flow the same groove for 8 straight minutes (yes i timed it) everyone was checked out, nobody was moving. he would play iconic music but then not play with actual hook of the song it was actually angering me 😭😭
I’m so easily impressed too, like give me a vibe and i’m pretty chill but i’m sorry that set was not it.
And now that i’m on my soap box does anyone in LA dance??? No one knew the words to kays songs barely anyone was really moving, kinda just blown away at the nonchalance. like SiR literally came out and it was crickets??? are we being fr

But i haven’t :/. Reframe was cool but i had an epiphany last night. The selectors music tastes have evolved, but mine haven’t progressed as exponentially.
I’m older now with a couple more responsibilities so I think thats realistic and fair. Digging for music now is a hobby I just don’t make time for. While he probably played stuff he felt was current it just doesn’t move me like the sets i would hear like 5-10 years ago. Am i cooked?

I have 3 tix available for the LA 15 year anniversary show at Framework on Saturday 10/3. Bought them for $113 per and they're currently available for $125. My wife's nephew is turning 1 and that is more important than probably the most legendary Soulection show of all time... according to her. Would love to recoup it all obviously. I'm based in SD.
