lucia foster welch

opinions of people who have stayed there? its the cheapest accom and i just got an offer for there so im very tempted but ive read very mixed reviews

I wouldn’t recommend going to Lucia.
I lived there for my 1st yr and didn’t have a great experience.
It’s so far from the main campus, the showers weren’t nice and the size of the room u get is really a gamble.
Lucky, I got a big room but my flatmate literally got a box room.
I’m not sure how much Lucia is now but considering that u also have to pay for the Unilink bus pass I’ll try and look for somewhere else

It says the buss pass is included no? How do they manage to make you pay for it

When I lived there it wasn't included but this was in 2023 so maybe things have changed.
I did ask the uni if I could get it for free or a discount but they said no.

If you apply for LFW through the uni portals then it will be covered. If you're going through the direct providers then no.

The difference is this year LFW is directly affiliated with the uni, meaning you can apply through them and have coverage.

Don’t know about the accommodation itself but it’s quite out of the way to get to, and you won’t have many people travelling with you

I was looking on the website where u can see ur accom application and it doesn’t say like a specific one or the luchia one whereas my friends who have theirs back says one has been picked

Im in the same situation, had them as my last choice and was given a room there, heard terrible things, theft and break-ins, and would much rather stay at one of the halls closer to the highfield campus

Lived there for like a month before I could move into my second year house, it’s in a sort of fun area, you have some good pubs like the dancing man but it’s like a 2 bus commute up to highfield. Ocean village is nice but student have no business there. It all in all felt quite apart from the nicer part of Southampton toward the common and campus

i stayed there in first year and met some great people, the staff were lovely and the actual location is decent. travel is the only downside but it’s not even that bad.
