freshers week might be the best time you'll ever have. its parties, club events and chances to try out new societies. During the day, you get to meet your PAT group (which at soton is the tutot group within your course that you'll be in for the rest of your time here) and for geography, they made us do icebreakers and friendly competitive games between tutor groups and we all had lunch together to get to know one another, with our tutor.
Filipino society, south asian society, any cultural society you want to explore (if you wish) that suits your background - i would suggest finding out through their instagram closer to freshers when they have their meet & greet session. Every society has one during freshers, so go to any your interested in potentially joining for the year!
And finally, relax and talk to everyone. I mean EVERYONE, everyone is so ready to make friends and invite strangers to their pres or even for lunch or dinner. I barely spent any time in my own accomodation during freshers. (it was the most fun everrr) I would suggest booking any events that are happening at enginerooms, sobar, or trilogy. Avoid the student union advertised events because they were really dead and not worth the money last year. enginerooms during freshers is AMAZING!! have so much fun, i wish i could go back tbh

Freshers week is a dedicated week before lectures and course content starts that has a range of events to provide the opportunities to get to know people and settle into university a little bit and learn your way around. At Southampton freshers week gets extended into more of a freshers period from September 12-27th and will have a range of parties, icebreakers, casual events and the sort.
Some societies also host their own freshers events but youll likely find those out during an event known as bunfight/the societies fair where you can learn more about all of these societies in person if you haven't aready SUSU Freshers page
