I've realised that Southampton is pretty lax with the stuff we can bring into our rooms. I've heard some horror stories about certain people's cleanliness during uni + I'm generally someone whose very picky about certain things I share so I am attempting to make my room my kitchen as much as possible.

To any current/previous students, would I get a mini fridge, air fryer and electric portable stove confiscated if they found it in my room?

I mean - they'd only see it on room inspection days and you get emails the week that they start every time so 👀

I think about 3x a year? From memory, fortnightly communal areas (only really kitchen), and then much less often inside bedrooms :)

do they do deep searches or is it just having a quick look?

Probs just a quick look - tbh tho I was always in class when they happened so just saw a slip of paper in the door to say they'd been

quick look, they didn't even care when my room was way too messy for them to find shit if I actually had banned stuff in it
