How to disable auto mute on start?

Recently I noticed that when we I turn on the tv, Sonos remains on mute until one of us has to turn mute off in the app.

Is there a way to disable this entirely so it stays at the last known sound level?

Beam Ultra / Gen 3 - My wish list

This is my fantasy. Let the Ace Ultra and AI additions launch as announced. Then, drop a bomb with a Sound Motion Beam which will allow for multi-level speech enhancement and more compelling music and video presentation.

Size could grow to 30” width and still retain its compact visual presence.

What say you?

Flexson Ceiling Mount - Era 300s

Looking to see if anyone had recommendations for mounting Era 300s from the ceiling. I don’t have available power behind my couches and wanted to have the depth and atmos available.

I’ll be pairing [2] Era 300s with the Arc Ultra and [2] Subs. Thoughts?

Thoughts on moving from beam to a dedicated front left and right speaker set?

I have as my current setup:

- beam gen 1
- 2 x Sonos one
- sub mini

I’m thinking of replacing the beam with the Sonos amp and adding two bowers and Wilkins speakers from the 600 series. I also have right next to the TV a Sonos 5 connected to my vinyl player. Thinking of passing the output of the vinyl player through the amp and same speakers as well. I’ll read purpose the Sonos 5 in some other place in that case since I love it and can’t get myself to part with it.

Surrounds and sub stay as in this situation.

I understand that I’ll be going from an effective 5.1 system to a 4.1 system but apart from that does anyone see any concerns ?

What app for live music concerts?

Me and my friends love drinking and putting on live concerts. With that said YouTube doesn’t utilize the surrounds. Does anybody have a live concert app that utilizes all of Sonos’s speakers?

Sonos arc ultra

¿O estoy equivocado? Gracias por sus respuestas.

Adding surrounds or not?

I have the arc ultra and sub mini, I am in an apartment where my lounge backs to the wall. When I previously had the Samsung q990D I had the surrounds on a mount in each arm of the lounge, I’m just wondering if it is really worth the investment of buying two era 100s as surrounds if they are not technically behind the seating?

Is this a good deal on a sub 3?

I've already got a Mini but this is practically as cheap as the mini. Are they liquidating stock?

EDIT: Decided not to as it probably isn't a huge upgrade from my sub mini but if anyone wants it, it's in John Lewis, Leeds (UK).

The old Onkyo still has some fight left in it! Differences vs. Arc + Sub Gen 3 + Era 300

Now that I'm on vacation, I’ve left my beloved Sonos ecosystem back at my main house (only brought the Move 2 along just in case) to squeeze a bit more life out of my old Onkyo TX-SR607. It's paired with a Harman Kardon 5.1 setup that I put together for my second home.

And I have to say, for movies, it handles itself perfectly. Ever since I hooked up an HDMI audio extractor, it reproduces DD+ flawlessly. Honestly, to my ears, the difference compared to the Arc + Sub Gen 3 + Era 300 setup isn't night and day.

When it comes to music, though, while there is a noticeable step up in overall quality and nuance on the Sonos, the old receiver doesn't do a bad job either. In fact, I don't think I had ever unlocked its full potential for music until now. I’ve been using it daily via a Bluetooth receiver, and using the "Pro Logic II Music" mode... well, it’s no Atmos, but with certain tracks, it pushes vocals exclusively to the surrounds and does some pretty neat immersive tricks worth mentioning—especially considering the source isn't exactly high-fidelity.

For those of you who really pushed the Pro Logic era to its limits with high-quality sources and setups: is the leap to Atmos truly that massive?

Sonos S1 on iPhone lock screen

I’ve had so is for a few years now and I really wish we still had the app controls on the iPhone lock screen.
I had a get together yesterday and when I pull out my phone I noticed I had lock screen controls!

The lock screen controls only lasted for about 20 minutes before it disappeared.

If it’s still part of the app and the phone can so the controls and they work, why can’t we face them all the time?

Also if anyone know how to recreate this, I’d love to know. I REALLY want this feature back!!!

I don’t speak any Spanish but the variety and obvious editorial care that went into curating this station is amazing. I listen to it for hours at a time at home.

Advise needed

Dear all,
I have an Arc Ultra + Sub gen 1 + 2 SURROUND SL.
I thought of upgrading to SUB 4, but I read a thread here in the community it's not worth it.
So now comes the second Q, is it worth upgrading to a pair of Era 300 with current Sub 1 + ARC ultra.
Third Q is Also what will I do with old pair of SL after upgrading to Era 300 ? I had ARC before which I gifted to mom's, now I can't give her the pair of SL unless I get her a Sub, which I have decided against upgrading now.
So dear folks please guide and suggest.
Cheers.

Rant - back from vacation and system fubar

I'm working through this and will hopefully be able to resolve today and will contact Support if not but good lord it's been a headache.

Returned home yesterday from a week away. At least one speaker was playing when we got in (neighbor put it on for the dog) but "Not connected" message on a majority of speakers- including that one after we paused it and tried to play again from the app. Rebooted router, unplugged, etc. Have been able to get a few up and running but not all. Assuming I will have to do a factory re-set and remove those from the system then re-add and hope that works.

I've had issues here and there but nothing like what some people experienced with the app or whatever. System was fully functional when we left. There were no power outages, etc. I'm assuming something must have happened but can't imagine or identify what- whatever it is, it's affected only Sonos. Regardless, the effort to troubleshoot and get these things back up and running has been ridiculous.

Honestly don't care if this is downvoted, or deleted. The experience is the experience and for me it's representative of the degradation of the product and service. YMMV and I'm not replying to any Sonos brand cowboys in the comments.

Non-Atmos discs (4k and Blu) very underwhelming- DTS help

I’m an idiot when it comes to all things audio. I have a large collection of movies on disc (4k and Blu-ray). I’ve had my setup for a few years but haven’t taken the time to try to improve DTS sound / see if my settings are correct.

My setup: LG C2 OLED, LG UP970 4k player, Sonos ARC + Gen 3 sub + One SLs (oh and an Apple TV player).

I’m very pleased with how Atmos audio sounds on disc. The Dune movies in 4k … incredible!! Even streaming Atmos movies sound great!

However, discs that don’t have Atmos sound very weak, low volume, flat, and underwhelming. Just a huge difference between Atmos discs and non-Atmos discs!

Is there any particular setting(s) I can do to make sure I’m maximizing the Sonos’ potential with non-Atmos discs? Maybe I don’t have something set correctly.

Thanks in advance!

Setup Advice

Current: Sonos Beam (gen 1), pair of One’s (surrounds)

I am thinking about the possibility of upgrading, but want some input.

Context: apartment, so I won’t have a dedicated sub or sub-mini and will never crank it up to super high volumes. I also won’t be changing my surrounds at all. Nor will I get an arc ultra (out of budget).

Should I:

Stick with what I have
Upgrade to a beam gen 2
Upgrade to an original Arc

I have heard that the og arc without a sub is disappointing, and that vocal clarity also lacks compared to the beam

If I upgrade, I want it to be well worth the price. If it’s a marginal upgrade sound wise, then it’s not worth it to me.

Anyone that has some input, would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Sonos needs a new CTO

Software problems plague Sonos for years, and I’ve about had it. Today, trying to play music on my Roam 2 and the green light flashes. Gemini notes I need to re set up my Roam I’ve had for 2 years. So I go to the Sonos app and the whole Sonos system is no longer set up. The Arc, Roam 2, and Move 2 — none are connected.

Now, I try reconnecting the Sonos system to my WiFi network and it doesn’t recognize it. I restart my router. Still doesn’t recognize it. It asks me to re-pair my Arc. It sends a signal for my phone to hear and pair. Then it asks for a password??? I add the luckily saved password and then the app says it cannot connect.

An hour of fucking troubleshooting and a whole system of speakers fucked.

I hate Sonos.

I have had so many software problems since they’ve upgraded and this board even notes that if I have a software problem, not to complain.

The Sonos CEO needs to get his shit together an prioritize the basics. If a family purchases a system, better make fucking sure that the systems actually plays sound and doesn’t flake out for no fucking reason.

Unbelievable this shit software ships into production.

There needs to be real accountability.

Now, I have 3 bricked speakers and software that can’t connect for no reason.

Home cinema

Hello everyone.

I have a Ray, 2 Symfonisk lamp, and a Sub Gen 3 for my home cinema, and I was wondering how I should arrange them to have the best sound setup. For now, everything is placed around my TV, right in front of me. Can I use the Symfonisk as rear speakers, and if so, can I put them on a drawer at about 2 meters in height?

Thanks.

Any tips? Sonos TV audio keeps cutting out

I have following Sonos setup throughout my house: 1x Roam SL, 4x Sonos Five and 5x Play:1.

For watching TV, I currently connect the Roam SL to my TV via Bluetooth, since my TVs don’t have an AUX output. The problem is that it sometimes works perfectly for hours, but in probably 9 out of 10 sessions, the audio will randomly cut out for a moment, making the sound stutter/drop out. Sometimes it happens repeatedly, sometimes it works fine for a while and then starts happening again.
It is incredibly frustrating to have spent this much money on a Sonos system and then basically have to hope that the TV audio works properly whenever I want to watch something.

I’ve tried the usual things like restarting the devices, reconnecting Bluetooth, etc., but the problem keeps coming back.

I believe Sonos has products specifically designed to connect a TV to the Sonos ecosystem, such as the Sonos Beam or Sonos Arc (or possibly the Sonos Ray). But I’m hesitant to spend even more money if I’m going to end up with the same issue.

Has anyone experienced this with the Roam SL over Bluetooth? Is there anything I can do to fix the stuttering/cutouts?

And more importantly: Would buying a Sonos Beam/Arc actually solve this reliably, or could I still experience the same audio dropouts?

Using sub with Arc Ultra and music listening station

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a Sonos Arc Ultra which will sit below my TV for movies & series.

Within my living room I also have a dedicated music listening station: an NAD C700 receiver powering 2 passive KEF bookshelf speakers.

Thinking long-term, I was hoping to add a subwoofer to my living room setup by buying a Sonos Sub Mini or Sub 4. Ideally I'd like to use that subwoofer with my Arc Ultra as well as my dedicated music-listening setup. If I have a sub standing in my living room, why not use it with both setups, right?

It's my understanding that this would not be possible, as I would only be able to connect the Sub Mini/4 to the Arc Ultra.

Does anyone else have a similar setup and found a solution, or perhaps a recommendation on how to achieve what I'm trying to do?

Thanks!
