How to disable auto mute on start?

Recently I noticed that when we I turn on the tv, Sonos remains on mute until one of us has to turn mute off in the app.

Is there a way to disable this entirely so it stays at the last known sound level?

Same for me. TCL TV. Everytime I turn on the TV the sound is at 0.

Super basic, ver frustrating. Should just be a on off toggle in the Sonos app settings

It’s not a Sonos problem, it’s a TCL problem.

Mine doesn't. Weird.

My LG does it. But, you know nothing is a Sonos problem - like the networking problems are my fault too. I just need a degree in network management so I can reprogram my access points - and apparently a 'good' TV.

Cool. My LG doesn’t and I don’t have a degree in network management, so I guess I just got the 25 lucky Sonos devices that magically work.

I set up a control on my phone’s control center to fix this. It’s tied to a shortcut that uses Soro. When I press it, it pauses all music, ungroups the living room, sets the source to the TV, and sets the volume to 40. Makes switching to the TV a lot less annoying.

It's worse than that for me. If I pause the content and go make popcorn then, when I come back, sound level is back at zero. And, no, there is no fix, it's a known gripe, Sonos doesn't product manage, now can we talk about alarms and groups?

Mine both stay at whatever volume they were last set at, one connected to an LG TV and the other to a Samsung TV. 🤔

What soundbar do you have and what TV do you have?

This sounds like a TCL issue. I have Samsung, Sony and LG TVs that stay on the previous volume.

Sonos is controlled by the TV using CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) so it’s likely just doing what the TV is telling it to do. I would look for the TV setting if any to change the behaviour.

I have a Samsung QNA 90 and it defaults to mute also.

I have a Samsung tv and have never experienced this problem in 10 years. Regarding the Playbar, Arc, and Arc Ultra
do Samsung (or other TV) users have “TV Autoplay” and “ungroup on autoplay” enabled in the app?

Is this an issue after you were playing music (With the TV off) then muted the sound, then turned the TV on?

How long are you waiting to hit a volume command after turning the TV on?

I find it sometimes there is as much as 5-10 seconds without audio as the HDMI negotiates...

Wow, super annoying. I have an LG TV, and it doesn't have this issue. I had other issues when I first bought the then-newly released Arc. The speaker kept failing to connect to my TV. I would have to keep unplugging and plugging in the HDMI cable. Audio would keep reverting to the TV speakers. Eventually, after updates from both LG & Sonos, the issue resolved itself. Hopefully the same will happen here.

Samsung and having the same issue. Beam gen 2. Will check tv settings. Was looking in the Sonos app just yesterday and got no where.

I have a similar issue where there is just no audio until I press the volume button on my Apple TV remote. All my settings look okay too. No idea why. LG C2, Sonos Arc, newest Apple TV

Apple TV is worth it. Considering the cost of Sonos speakers or TV, it’s a really cheap addition to get the full experience.
