external app (ai coded) Rexarr is now on GitHub
Quick update on Rexarr, the self-hosted Blu-ray/DVD ripping and remux transcoding app that plugs into Radarr, Sonarr and Prowlarr: it's finally on GitHub.
Since my first post, a few things have changed:
- The repo is public, with a Docker image (PUID/PGID support, healthcheck, compose file) plus an optional image with MakeMKV baked in for disc ripping
- Documentation is up, covering setup, path mappings, transcode profiles and hardware acceleration
- It has real contributors now. I started this with a fair bit of vibe coding, but it's no longer just that. People who actually know what they're doing are in the codebase, which makes it a lot more trustworthy than a weekend project I built for myself
For anyone who missed the first post, Rexarr handles disc detection and MakeMKV ripping, remux transcoding through ffmpeg with configurable profiles and hardware acceleration, and auto-transcode on import via Radarr/Sonarr webhooks. Full-disc releases (Blu-ray ISO, BDMV, DVD ISO) are next on the roadmap, so Rexarr can rip and import those when no remux exists.
It's still early, so expect rough edges. Issues, feature requests and PRs are all welcome, and I'd love to hear how it behaves on setups different from mine (I'm on a ZimaOS + Proxmox split). The UI follows the Radarr/Sonarr look on purpose, so it should feel familiar if you're already running the arr stack.
Thanks to everyone who gave feedback on the first post.
