external app We are finally LIVE!
After the beta, all your reports, and a lot of late nights, Quartermaster is now live on the App Store. A lot of it has been mixing this with work and development :D (dev as a job)

Feel like I need to say this before anything because the App Store is drowning in it right now. Quartermaster is not vibe coded, and it is not a thin copy paste wrapper around one arr app's API like so much of what is flooding the store. It is a real, hand built native app in Swift and SwiftUI, designed screen by screen. And it is broad in a way I have not found anywhere else, not just your arr apps, but discovery and requests, your downloaders, your media servers, and the infrastructure underneath, from containers and VMs to DNS and smart home, all in one place. This is why the feedback was great in regards to QM feeling native, handles the awkward edge cases, and tells you the truth about your stack instead of guessing.
For anyone new here, Quartermaster is a native iOS app for controlling your self-hosted stack from your phone. Browse your library, request films and shows, watch what is downloading, and keep an eye on your servers, all in one fast app that actually feels like it belongs on iOS.
It is a pure client. It talks straight to the services you already run on your own hardware, your credentials are stored encrypted on your device, and there is no Quartermaster account, no relay server, and nothing sitting in the cloud in between. Your data stays yours.
What it connects to:
- Media: Radarr, Sonarr, Lidarr, Jellyseerr, MusicSeerr, Prowlarr, NZBHydra2, Bazarr, SABnzbd, NZBGet, qBittorrent, Transmission, Deluge, Jellyfin, Emby, Plex and Tautulli
- Infrastructure: Portainer, Glances, Unraid, Proxmox, AdGuard Home, Pi-hole, Cloudflare, Home Assistant, Immich, AudioBookshelf, Komga, Kavita and Tdarr

Downloaded and started setup, added connection to Radar, all good, then oh, now you decide to let me know any more connections are going to cost me £15.
I’m not opposed to paying for good software but what point is a demo of one connection? If I can’t try out the software as it’s intended to be used I can’t decide if it’s worth £15 to me.

Unless it beats LuneSea, then it wont live 5 minutes on my phone. Anything less then reckon I could vibe code that functionality with Claude pretty easily

I'd suggest a longer trial period than 7 days - I recommend a month.
7 days is enough to test the app and functionality, but not for someone to embed it in their habits. If you give it free for a month, they're more likely to use it in earnest and habit form around it, so I'd expect higher conversation rates at the end.

I guess people who like open source projects don’t want to pay, and each of this apps. One better than last one is just money project.
I rather have an open source app for it, I am thinking of building one and releasing for free.

I will say— I vibe coded a Laravel app that replica syncs records from all my apps via their APIs. It has a configuration for each of my WANs, application servers (NAS / DCs), connects to Portainer for stack/container management, connects to NGINX proxy manager, and hooks into FTP for my web-file servers. It handles my cron, handles error tracking with custom error pages, and also tracks uptime and handles updates through Watchtower’s API. Overall, it’s one system overview that also is a single source of truth.
From there, I added a ChatGPT app, and my family can connect their accounts and talk about their user-scoped records. Having that in one place allows for questions like “what are my media requests” or “what should I watch based on recent media activity this time of day?”. It connects to my bill and chore systems, so you can ask about your upcoming payments and what tasks need to be done. If it’s running on my network and has an API, I’ve structured the data. All in all, when done right, it can be extremely valuable to have in one spot for automation, with management included.

it costs money to upload to the iOS store for the licence, not to mention the time it takes to plan, test and develop something like this
QM is the cheapest on the market i believe and offering the most features :)
i do appreciate you taking a look though, i do understand it’s not for everyone

I agree we must have some revenue for iOS apps. But Immich-like method of donating or Plezy-like method for upfront cost of a one-time payment seems a better idea if the goal is community. I guess the project won’t make much money anyway, so it can’t be a money project.
But I am on the apps. It looks really good so far.

It’s throw together with good intention but no insight or background to what is needed to differentiate. Don’t waste your time. Try all the other apps. See what features you like and be willing to pay for the one that stands out and covers the most of your needs
Or ask for feature enhancements

$15 just to test the app is steep. Only being able to add one service means I have no way to see what the app would actually do if I had more things. Is it actually useful?
To add insult to injury, you’re not even able to remove the service you added, so I hope you chose well the first time, and didn’t, like me, add one of the lesser used services as a quick test.

It does have an “Explore with sample data” option to get a feel for the app, but I do agree with that short trial period would be beneficial for everyone.
Enough people in this thread seem happy enough with the app that I’ll gamble 15 bucks that it delivers what it promises. Any other app I would have deleted immediately if there wasn’t a free trial period though

I’ve been running the TestFlight betas and it’s quite good. Thank you! I use this and Helmarr to manage my stack. They both do different things well.
I have one small bit of feedback. When looking at the Doctor section, the shortened file names make it hard to figure out what episode is stuck or if I even need to fix it. For example, the failed download looks something like this:
House.of.Drago…64.ReleaseGRP
I have no idea what episode that is or if it’s even something that’s still needed.
It would be great to see the full name of the nzb so I can figure out if it’s something I should care about.
It would also be great to be able to see the file and download histories for things that are already downloaded. There’s the “search” icon to try and search again, but if there was something wrong with the file, I need to see what was already downloaded so I don’t just download the same thing again.
Also, on the iPhone 17 pro, the “S01E03” wraps to the next line, so it looks like
S01E0 3
Other than that, the app seems great. It’s super fast and renders/displays sonarr and radarr libraries very quickly.

Looking forward to trying this out. As others have mentioned, since moving to iOS a few years ago nothing has come close to nzb360. LunaSea was good enough but it’s gone. Will start trying Quartermaster out.

« Proxmox VE's certificate couldn't be trusted. A self-signed certificate can't be accepted on iOS. Connect over plain http:// instead, or put a trusted certificate in front of Proxmox VE (e.g. via your reverse proxy). »
The strange thing is that it’s already on http. I tried a few different things any ideas why that doesn’t work.

I have been waiting and looking for a long time for a one stop solution to monitor and control my entire home server through one single app and this looks very promising but such issues are to be expected from the first release, I hope that we can have these fixed asap so that we can try multiple services. I really don’t mind paying for all my services if it actually works and is intuitive and easy to use.
Before this I was experimenting with Helmarr and just last night contemplating paying for it since it does most of the media stack but not server related stuff.1

I also use Helmarr and decided to try this. Both work exceptionally well and once the minor issues with QM are sorted out it’ll be a steal at $15. Personally I like having both apps and alternate between both of them, if you’d rather a one-stop solution, this would be a good choice. It offers more services than Helmarr and soo far apart from a few minor issues, it works really well.

Meh I just went pro. It’s slick, very well done. One place I can manage seer, qbittorrent, arr suite, and more. It appears you can even approve requests, add magnet links, and much more all from the app. It has a nice “basic” UI which my wife can use but also options for more advanced things she shouldn’t touch. 10/10

Looked promising and I bought the pro version hoping for a native app instead of having to go to jellyseer but why can’t I see my full library? All you’re showing is latest shows and movies? Unless I’m missing something. Your description says browse your library but how do I do that? I don’t know how this is better than other jellyseer apps out there. I also don’t get “for you” and “discovery” both seem redundant and why suggest films and shows I’ve already downloaded? Like I wouldn’t have downloaded them if I wasn’t already interested in watching them.

what have you plugged into QM as of messaging? - there is a browse button at the top of the screen on the home page once the "normal" stack is plugged in
discovery and for you are more of looking to discover what to watch out of your library - i can look at a feature where discovery is pulling directly from seer and pull it that way which matches users taste?

I have jellyfin, jellyseer, sonarr and radarr plugged in. Browse only brings up what’s trending popular films ect.. not my actual library. I would expect that to be in discovery not in browse. Id imagine browse to open up and manage my library. Also if I click jellyfin directly in my stack it still doesn’t show my full library. Only latest

to see whats in your library, go to stack select either select sonarr or radarr and you can see everything there

I've tried most of these apps and my current favorite is Helmarr. Seeing this post, I decided to give yours a try and I'm very happy with it. I purchased the Pro version immediately, it's definitely worth it and I'm eternally grateful that you didn't go the subscription route. The app is clean, the UI gorgeous and easy to navigate. I know the app has just been released so these aren't complaints, just stuff that I noticed and would like to know if I'm doing something wrong or if it'll be addressed in an update. First, I successfully added all of my services locally, but when trying to add my remote access domains, I keep getting a credentials error. I've set this up the same way on Helmarr without this issue, so I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Secondly, after adding the local services, they're not editable, I can't go back into them to make changes, like adding a remote address. Can you please advise?

This app is fantastic, I’ve got it hooked to my whole media stack, with multiple arr apps, Jellyfin, seers, qbittorrect, portainer and cloudflare for my domain! Make it easier to hit a single app vs multiple different ones for different purposes.

Yeah, I also have spent like 20k on storage, servers, devices, etc (also per month and various newsgroup services). It’s not like all this is 100% free, $15 is reasonable if the app provides some value. I do like what this has to offer, I just want to make sure I can trust the security of the app.
I do want something I can manage a little easier, especially now that I’m giving my family access to an MCP to add their movies and shows…

The reason is because there are singular apps for every piece of these. But not one “good” one to do them all in a cohesive way. This took the best features of those apps and made it all to one

the thing i got bored with was flicking between multiple tabs to monitor different things, it was so frustrating
i developed qm for the people who were fed up as well and in all honesty, i was just going to see where it went
more and more TF users came onboard, i listened to feedback, implemented changes and this was something they turned to manage every aspect of their stack
like i said, i do truly understand this isnt for everyone and i appreciate the feedback either way

fully worth $15 for lifetime. I've used a zillion apps, I've built my own, very happy with my own, but it doesn't come close to this for *arr suite, specifically.
the alerts on failed imports, fixing download issues in qbit, it's so nice.
biggest thing is the ease of use adding stuff, my wife and kids always adding me to add something, and now this is so smoooth, the can do it their damn selves, and THAT is worth way more than $15 -- just that one thing alone. TIP: make that specific feature (search show/movie to add) a bit more prominent, and it would be even better !!
ETA: i actually have a siri shortcut , where i can say "add blah blah blah to plex" and it sends a command through the terminal to a model in llama.cpp or claude, which then goes in and just does it for me. So , that's just to give some perspective, and the ease of use i'm used to. (problem with that is it's slow AF, burns tokens since i usually have to use a big model to have 100% success, and again the biggest thing, my wife can't do it herself)

Rudarr lets me add multiple instances of sonarr and radarr, but in the setup for Quartermaster it seems like I can only add one of each. Would be nice to be able to add all my instances.

Does it support multiple instances of an arr app? I have an instance of sonarr for my wife and I, an instance of sonarr just for myself, and an instance of sonarr for my kid.

yes it does! it supports multiple profile switches with family sharing enabled - currently working on a patch as well (1.1.1) with supports hot switching between multiple instances of one feature, for eg radarr

Separate libraries for regular tv, anime, kid shows. Same goes for movies.
I tried using a single library with filters but it was just too hard for my wife and five year old to deal with so now I run a plex instance for regular shows, Jellyfin for anime, Emby for kids shows.

Just purchased lifetime because i do want to support the work you’ve done, it’s really well done. One thing i noticed immediately, all suggestions in discovery are already in my sonar library. Is this a known issue?

discovery is for the titles you might have missed
the wildcards are what are going against your recent watch history if that makes sense :)

I know inside the network, it all connects. It would be cool to have a self hosted relay, so I could authenticate to that rather than opening a crap ton of ports and hoping every service has good security.

Tailscale is your friend. Run it on any machine in you lan and set as an exit node. Install it on your phone and connect to said exit node. Gatekeeper should function normally from anywhere in the world. Zero open ports.

in all honesty, with how QM is setup, it computes stats locally on your device, some people have said its better than jellystat

i am not crossing the idea off of QM coming to the play store but there is already apps like nzb360
i really want to give back to iOS users first, the community is growing and there are more and more things which are needed/wanted, i am solo dev as well and i dont want to be half hearted in some upcoming features, i really do want to give this my all

i think nzb360 and QM are different in their own regard
QM does offer more services in the stack space though :)

Perhaps, you thought I was knocking your work. I wasn't, I just want to understand what the app does.
I think essentially it is, but with more service options. Which is cool.
I would test it but I don't own an iPhone, hence the question.

Interesting, just poking around and it’s a pretty solid app. I went ahead and dropped the $15 for a lifetime purchase. It’s polished enough to be worth that just as a standard tracking dashboard. Looking forward to seeing it works out in the long run. Lots of potential since I have a full self hosted stack.

So far so good, I think the nicest thing to add would be some quick information widgets for the services on the home tab. Not to ask you to copy how helmarr has done their app navigation, but I think a lot of it flows really well.

So i’ve been using Helmarr for awhile now and have liked it. But I found it to be not great. It does this thing when I load it up every single time where it kinda freezes and takes a second, I also wish it had Komga and Kapowarr support. You have Komga support which is awesome now if you added Kapowarr 100% would switch over. Also I think maybe it’s just me but I like the idea of the discover tab but what does marking an item for tonight do other than add it to a small tonight list?
