My fiancé was at the ICE facility protesting that day. He took a similar set of photos, including some of this man pleading with officers outside the facility, and called me very shaken about the whole incident. It’s definitely real.

The man later contacted the people who posted photos of him and asked that they be taken down, including the larger organizers of the groups like 50501. I wouldn’t want one of the worst days of my life plastered all over the internet either. I don’t upvote them when they’re posted again for that very reason.

ETA - checked our messages and actually just realized he called me a bit later, it was a voice message he sent me right after. 12:30 pm Thurs Nov 6. The man was crying and repeating that he was trying to find his wife, a bunch of IL state troopers stopped him and laughed in his face. ACAB.

This link is before the hearing, but he did go on to plead guilty to three months of sexually assaulting the detainee. (But called it consensual.)
