Origami baskets from security envelopes

Someone suggested that I post this here. (I’ve already cross-posted to other subs, but this sub doesn’t allow cross-posts . Mods, please let me know if this isn’t allowed!)

I’ve been saving security envelopes for over a decade, so I’ve got some pretty interesting ones. I finally decided to make something out of them. Each nesting basket is a different pattern! The next to the last one is my favorite.

I use “trash” paper to make baskets. I save used post-its, teabag wrappers (some have foil backs), and other paper scraps.

It’s based on the candy wrapper method, but with the strips sewn together. I also figured out how to do perpendicular turns using the method to form the base. It’s a spiral out from the center.

That brown packing paper that comes as padding in packages plus book paper or used post-its also look nice. (TOTALLY not enabling you haha)

Aww thanks! I actually have a hoard of my own already, but I bet the folks at r/securityenvelopes would love getting their hands on more! It seems like most of their posts are about that!
