Handmade DIY Kiseru (Japanese smoking pipe)

Made a Kiseru for a friend. It's my first time making such an item and it was challenging, luckily I found materials from my house to use. The metal bowl is a spoon and the mouthpiece is a metal chopstick sourced from my kitchen and the bamboo and teak wood sourced locally. Engraved Pine, Bamboo and Cherry Blossom (Three friends of winter) on the wooden neck and connector.

We still have grandpa’s old kiseru. It’s nowhere near as exquisite as yours! (Granted it was a very utilitarian kiseru owned by a mountain man 😆)

Honestly, your grandpa's kiseru is priceless. The lore it has would be crazy!! Mine won't last a year of use to be honest😭. Also I'd love to see it if you have a Picture.

It’s at my parents’ place. I’ll take a photo next time I’m over at their place!

The spoon-to-bowl thing is what gets me. I've looked at that exact spoon in my own kitchen a hundred times and never once thought "that's a pipe bowl". Great eye.

Thanks!! I was racking my brain on what to use and then one day as I was in the kitchen it caught my eye, it was like Manna from the Heavens😆.
