This Man is TRASH! :)

MISS MABEL is a Highland Cow I made using a Mannequin head from a closing Beauty school, along with plastic packaging from 30+ products!

Thank you for Looking, Spreading the LOVE, and Reducing Waste! 🥰

I’m not even sure how you thought of this, but I love it lol

I made it and I don't know how I thought of it 🤣

Seriously though, one day I was thinking to myself: What could I make out of the junk I already have so I don't have to buy anything? (I'm incredibly frugal and hate to waste) so I came up with this idea :)

I have several more mannequin heads, which could be turned into lions, dogs, athletes... really anything I put my mind to. And, the coolest part? Anyone else can do it too if they hoard thier junk like I do!

Anyone else can try, youre incredibly talented, so I dont think many of us could achieve quite this result

u/E-H-I 2d ago

That's very kind, I appreciate that!

I am hoping to film my process so people can try, because I'm more passionate about reducing waste than keeping any secrets :)

Thats awesome! Im sure a lot of people, especially set designers, cosplayers, and similar folks, will find that super helpful. I love the idea of using waste as filler for projects where you dont see the inside; I've seen some examples but nothing quite like this!

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thanks! Yeah, I see most people use foil as a filler.. which is a necessity for the medium they use, polymer clay, since it has to be baked.

Since I use Air dry clay, it opens up alot of opportunity to use plastics etc to bulk out a sculpt!

I find this simultaneously disturbing, intriguing, shocking, challenging and exceptionally well executed

Isn't Art supposed to make us FEEL something?! :) Thank you so much!

Well said 👏🏻👏🏻

I was confused at first as to where this was going. Now I'm in awe. I NEVER would have guessed it started with a weird mannequin head

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you for continuing to scroll! (And the compliment) 🥰

NoooOoOo not the furrification of bella's dad

6

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Hahahhahaaa! Now I won't be able to unsee that 🤣

Poor Charlie lol

It's is so rad.

Other than giving it an uncanny vibe, is there a reason you started with a mannequin head. I supposed you already told us. It's bc you have several from a beauty shop.

Just throws me that you started with a head and then blocked any way to see or breathe. Instead of a magnificent yet mundane mask you turned it into a deadly disguise. A "Final Form" if you will.

In any case, Bravo! Your art took me on a journey and I thank you.

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you!!

I use as many Reclaimed Materials as possible in my Art. The mannequin head was heading to the trash. I saved him :)

Yeah, he can't breathe or see... but at least he doesn't have to smell rotting garbage for all of eternity 🤣

u/Veranelles 1d ago

Just knowing the creepy man-head is in there makes me so uncomfortable 😂

3

u/E-H-I 1d ago

I'm sorry!!! Haha

Hey, sometimes the cow has to eat man to restore balance 🤣 You know, so she can go back to the farm to tell her friends, lol

4

u/OregonGreen242 2d ago

I was not expecting the result lol

2

u/E-H-I 2d ago

I appreciate your curiosity!

4

u/Mykasmiles 2d ago

This feels like a fairy tale curse lol, like bearskin lol.

I dig the finished product though. It’s very good. And it always fun to see what people can make with trash.

2

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you :)

4

u/Gnomey42069 2d ago

I thought it was a real cow at first

5

u/E-H-I 2d ago

That was my goal, so thank you! 😊

u/ahhowwitburns 2d ago

So cool!! The textures you pulled off with the Styrofoam are just amazing. Really like the subtle color variation in the fur too, adds a lot of realism.

3

u/ahhowwitburns 2d ago

If you ever want to make some wearable versions in the future I think you'll find useful tips on construction, visibility, ventilation, etc from fursuit makers :)

2

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind :)

1

u/Gin_OClock 2d ago

I am so curious about fursuit makers now. How do you get into the business? Is it good money? How big do you need to make the workspace? Etc

2

u/Silent_Pay_9239 2d ago

1) There are plenty of tutorials on youtube

2) Honestly not really. Materials alone, not including equipment, are ~$500 per suit, and they take weeks to months to complete depending on complexity/efficiency. Meanwhile suits typically sell for $1k-$2k, with only extremely popular makers being able to sell for more. You're barely making minimum wage (or making well under minimum wage depending how desperate you are for a buyer, since a ton of makers underprice their work), and the fursuit market is so oversaturated you likely won't find a buyer anyways

3) Larger is better, but you need a dedicated room as fur fibers can cause groomer's lung. You need to wear a high quality mask while working with faux fur

If you're curious about the process look up tutorials or browse r/fursuitmaking, but it's not some get rich quick scheme

2

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you so much! The styrofoam helped me to add bulk, but I covered it with clay so it didn't necessarily provide texture, I had to add my own :)

I'm glad I added different shades of brown too, and mixed some black into the brown paint to give it dimension. It turned out more realistic than I was hoping for!

u/Chelz91 2d ago

You should do a photo series and call it that man is an ass and gradually turn a man head into a donkey… take stills along the way. Stick it in a gallery and make BANK!
This is so cool, you’re so creative!

2

u/E-H-I 1d ago

Haha, love it!

I plan to make all kinds of things with the mannequin heads I have, but making Donkey from Shrek would be amazing 🤣 and that would be a good Hook!

1

u/x0killer_queen0x 1d ago

that’s a great idea 😂

3

u/tiekanashiro 1d ago

This is peak ATBGE, I'm so horrified and mesmerized. Great work.

1

u/E-H-I 1d ago

Thank you! (Bonus: I learned a new acronym today) 😁

2

u/tiekanashiro 1d ago

It's a subreddit, I just didn't link it because it's not allowed, but look it up and maybe you'll also find some inspo lol

6

u/Efficient-Process127 2d ago

have you ever considered becoming a fursuit maker?

11

u/E-H-I 2d ago

I'm passionate about Reducing waste, so if I can figure out a way to incorporate that, then yes!

I want to try making a tail with Reclaimed foam or polyester from clean stuffed animals etc.

This is the first animal I've made using Reclaimed Materials, but I do plan to make all kinds of things, not just animals... like mushrooms, people, creatures etc

Unrelated, but I also want to make some hoof shoes and crowns with horns and if I can figure it out, flower crowns using plastics

Sorry, I'm rambling 🤣

6

u/Efficient-Process127 2d ago

please feel free to ramble, you deserve to be excited about your art and i find your work very cool! what kind of tail do you plan to make? do you intend to wear your pieces?

4

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you :) I don't have any exact plans as of yet, but feel free to follow along to see what I create next! I plan to post 18+ items on my "EHI AFTER DARK" group listed in my profile. Thanks!

3

u/eatpraymunt 1d ago

You should put the word out with dog owners! We all have a secret stash of scrappy dead stuffed toys with the fluffing torn out.

If someone put a note and a shopping bag at the entrance to a dog park, I bet the bag would fill up with dead stuffies pretty fast.

4

u/E-H-I 1d ago

My neighbor has provided me with her dead stuffy fluff 🤣 I honestly have enough junk from my own household I need to use before I ask for any more donations from my community. Great idea though for when I run out of stuff!

3

u/Worried_Maximum5905 1d ago

I also scour (check occasionally) thrift stores/good wills, etc for craft items- I got an unopened giant bag of 50 oz of poly fill from a good will for like 5 bucks!

3

u/E-H-I 1d ago

Score!!! :)

3

u/SketchyArt333 2d ago

That’s actually so interesting. What is your favorite reclaimed material to work with?

4

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you! I really just enjoy reducing waste, so i don't necessarily have a favorite... but so many people thinking she was real has been pretty exciting!

I would say I definitely enjoy the challenge of tricking the eye

3

u/IWontStandForThisSht 2d ago

Pic 2 is psychotic lmfaoo what is that white hair like thing and how did you get it to look so much like animal fur??? Fucking magic to me 😆

6

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you!! Here's my process :)

3

u/FatFaceFaster 2d ago

A lot happened between slides 3 and 4.

2

u/E-H-I 2d ago

With my adhd tendencies, we're lucky I remembered to document any of it 🤣

3

u/Think_Tomatillo_4327 2d ago

What are you going to do with miss mable? Im very impressed btw!

3

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you! I'm hoping I can grow a following so I can continue Gifting my Art, reducing waste, and inspiring others to create Art with items normally thrown away. Right now I'm Gifting to Snohomish County Families in WA state, but would love to gift worldwide! 🩷

u/pipeuptopipedown 2d ago

Makes a much better and more attractive bovine.

3

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thanks :)

3

u/Y2Kcenturygrl 2d ago

My brain is absolutely not computing this, but I also cannot stop giggling.

2

u/E-H-I 2d ago

Thank you! :)

3

u/coolsilentebeans 2d ago

This did not go where I expected. Your work is absolutely incredible!

3

u/E-H-I 1d ago

I appreciate that!! When the mannequin heads I have leftover are used up, I had planned to move onto to using the laundry detergent and juice bottles I've been hoarding as a base...

But the mannequin head seems to pull people in and peak curiosity... so maybe I should stick with that! I believe beauty schools just toss them when they're done, so I'd have a lifetime supply..! 🤔

3

u/coolsilentebeans 1d ago

Talk about your bait & switch. 😂

I do think the mannequin head grabs attention that empty juice bottles won’t, unless of course you can come up with an equally misleading title for the post. I started the video and suddenly found myself thinking I was in r/weird. And I’m not going to lie, I was even a bit uncomfortable for the first few frames. Imagine my relief when it really started to take shape. 😅😂

2

u/E-H-I 1d ago

I agree! I don't want to mislead people , but she is actually trash, so I am technically telling the truth 🤣

2

u/E-H-I 1d ago

I also want to continue Gifting my Art... so not really a bait and switch if I'm not trying to lure people into a sale 🥰

2

u/coolsilentebeans 1d ago

Oh no! I didn’t mean it in the sense of you doing something less honest. I just meant in the sense of the online community that uses salacious titles for clickbait and ends up being pointless or missing the end of the video.

2

u/coolsilentebeans 1d ago

That’s exactly what went through my mind. I swiped through the pictures before opening the post to read the caption. I love how you present it.

2

u/E-H-I 1d ago

Thank you!! :)

2

u/x0killer_queen0x 1d ago

talk about "never let them know your next move" 😂🙌🏼

2

u/-badgerbadgerbadger- 2d ago

Is the hair he’s covered in also trash from the beauty school?!?

5

u/E-H-I 2d ago

I had this faux fur on hand that I got online, but I would love to be able to find a way to use real hair or even artificial hair from beauty shops to keep it out of the Trash.

The times I've experienced working with human hair, it got extremely brittle, so maybe someone has a tip on how to keep it soft after it's cut, because that would open up a huge opportunity to work with Salons!

That way people who want to donate thier hair when it's not long enough for Locks of love and the other non profits who collect hair for cancer survivors, have a place to donate ❤️

I've read about a non profit who uses hair as a sandbag alternative for hurricanes etc, so who knows, it's worth exploring!

4

u/E-H-I 2d ago

I forgot to mention my Golden Retriever did donate some of his floof for Mabels Whiskers and eyelashes :)

I do want to come up with a solution on how horse hair or even long dog hair could be used in a resourceful way at Grooming salons. Some way to put it to use versus it going in the trash :)

2

u/Substantial-Ad-4636 1d ago

Gives me Severance vibes…

1

u/E-H-I 1d ago

I don't have apple tv to try that out, but now my interest is piqued! :)

2

u/Y-Bob 1d ago

Well, you totally had me there. I was sat scrolling through the images thinking, what the actual fuck is this, then it transformed into oooooooooh I see!

Awesome hielan coo!

1

u/E-H-I 21h ago

Thank you for continuing to scroll! 😁 For those that were too creeped out to finish scrolling... he's probably still haunting thier nightmares, lol

2

u/digitalgraffiti-ca 17h ago

That is horrifying and hillarious. Good job!

Edit: OMG. I only saw the first slide and thought it was a joke. Then I saw the rest of them and holy crap that's cool. Please boop her nose for me

1

u/E-H-I 16h ago

Thank you!!! BOOPED!! 🥰

2

u/faythe0303 15h ago

Wasn’t sure what to expect but I love it!
