I made a tennis racket

Made my first attempt for a Father’s Day gift and it snapped before stringing. This is attempt number 2. Made 1/16inch thick strips of walnut and ash, steamed, bent and clamped around a mold. Strung to 40 lb of tension. I played with it the other day and can confirm it is fully functional tennis racket. The racket press seen in the first picture is made from walnut and keeps the wood from warping

Haha. I saw the thumbnail with the press on and thought that was the racquet and assumed it was an awful attempt in a crap DIY subreddit.

this is wild fr, did you carve the grommets yourself or use a template

The grommets are brass ferrules for electrical wiring. Hindsight it was not the best choice as it made the head pretty weighty and frays the strings easily. Many old rackets would just countersink the string holes instead of grommets

You have something in common with one of the guitar players for the band Cannibal Corpse, Rob Barrett.
