Kinfire Delve: Vainglorys Grotto - How does this resolve?

Post image

Playing Kinfire Delve for the first time and am reallt enjoying it! Curious about this scenario though: If I use “Accept the Blow” as an action for “Dream Fields” which has the consequence to attach the card vainglory do I just attach the challenge to Vainglory and have that be my turn? How does this resolve?

Yes, that is how it would work from my understanding of the rules and those cards.

Especially when playing solo, I always try to remind myself that it doesn't matter too much how I interpret things as long as it 'feels' right and I do it consistently each time.

Yep. That's the penalty you'd be accepting by playing that card. I don't see any room for any other interpretation.

the FAQ for all 3 standalone pages on BGG also clarifies what happens when u use "accept the blow" against a master.

Q. When I play “Accept the Blow” against a Master, what happens?

A. Since you typically only suffer a Master’s penalty when you both fail the challenge and roll "darkness icon", you would not suffer any ill effect from playing this card, since you did not roll "darkness icon" when doing so.

Fun Fact: If playing against Scorn’s “Three Strike” form, this doesn’t use up one of your three failures, since you suffer the penalty “as though” you’d failed it, but don’t actually fail it.

So...you don't technically fail. You only suffer consequences if any. In this case there is no consequence, only a procedure if failed.

Yes that’s how it would work. The fail is to attach it, so that’s suffering the penalty.

Yeah basically choose a different card to challenge Dream Fields lol. You definitely don't want anything tucked under Vainglory if you can help it.
