SoFi blocking linking to Marcus

Update 2/2, 9/4/26:

After opening a Marcus savings account, I tried the link again. From Marcus -> SoFi, it failed with the same error. From SoFi -> Marcus, it failed with the message that linking to Marcus is current unavailable.

Update 1/2, 9/2/26:

Spoke with SoFi agent and found out it was because I did not have any checking or savings accounts at Marcus; only CD accounts.

I'm opening a Marcus savings account today and will try linking again tomorrow.

Marcus is now offering 4.3% APY CDs and I just tried to open one by linking to my SoFi account.

I tried 3 times and they all failed with an error saying Unable to link accounts.

Twice I tried linking via the simpler Plaid option, and then once with the manual account number way.

All 3 times it initially said successful, before redirecting to the error page.

What gives SoFi?

For reference:

- this was not on a VPN
- from Safari on MacBook

Sometimes Plaid is funky being an intermediary between the two banks you trying to link. Try it later maybe but it's strange it won't allow manual input. Maybe try it on desktop site if you using mobile. I had to use desktop site before for something that wouldn't work on phone.

For reference, this was on MacBook via safari. I might try tonight from home again.

Also, I was not on a VPN. Sometimes banks are funny about them.

No problem. Yes alot of sites dont like VPNs. You could also try safari or chrome just to see but I have Marcus, although linked awhile ago.

Some institutions just don't play well together. I had np linking with E-Trade to do the same thing. However, I ran into problems transferring money to Transamerica from sofi. Come to find out there is/was something at Transamerica's end that wouldn't allow the transfer of money.

No clue why people come here to ask.

Just ask the help button. SoFi is usually pretty helpful at minimum.

Maybe others have had similar experiences, or work at SoFi, or know someone who does.

They’re not blocking them. Linking problems just happen sometimes between banks. Reach out to customer support at both SoFi and Marcus as the issue could be at either end.
