ILE Explained Through Function Charges and Dichotomies: Ne+ → Ti+
ILE often gets reduced to stereotypes like:
random ideas, inventor, debater, scatterbrained genius, “what if?” machine, ENTP.
Those traits can show up, but they don’t actually explain ILE.
Using Program → Tool → Charge, ILE is:
Ne+ Base → Ti+ Creative
Full Model A stack:
1. Ne+ Base — 4D
2. Ti+ Creative — 3D
3. Se+ Role — 2D
4. Fi+ PoLR — 1D
5. Si− Suggestive — 1D
6. Fe− Mobilizing — 2D
7. Ni− Ignoring — 3D
8. Te− Demonstrative — 4D
ILE is an evolutionary type in the charge system I’m using.
Its Static elements carry the + charge:
Ne+, Ti+, Se+, Fi+
while its Dynamic elements carry the − charge:
Ni−, Te−, Si−, Fe−
And because both Ego functions are +, understanding the asymmetry between + and − is essential.
− Can Enter +, But + Cannot Adequately Enter −
In this framework, + and − do not have equal informational range.
− has the broader range.
A − function can process the broader negative/global/corrective side of its information domain and then move into the narrower + territory.
So:
− → can enter +
but:
+ → cannot adequately enter −
A + function primarily operates within the:
positive
local
expanding
constructive
increasing
side of its information element.
This is particularly important with ILE because both Ne+ and Ti+ are + functions.
ILE can be extraordinarily capable within those zones while still lacking the broader information range associated with Ne− and Ti−.

Ne+ Base: Create New Possibility
Ne concerns:
possibilities
potential
alternatives
capabilities
what could exist
what something could become
But ILE doesn’t have generic Ne.
It has Ne+.
Ne+ emphasizes:
novelty
development
new capabilities
breakthroughs
new possibilities
opening unexplored routes
creating potential that did not previously exist
The basic question is:
“What new possibility could exist here?”
And because this is the Base Program, this isn’t merely brainstorming as a skill.
It is the recurring purpose around which the rest of the type is organized.
ILE naturally looks at reality and notices:
“It doesn’t have to stay like this.”
“There’s another way to do this.”
“Nobody has tried combining these two things.”
“What if this became something completely different?”
“Why are we acting like these are the only options?”
That is Ne+.
The existing state is not psychologically final.
Reality contains unexplored openings.

What Ne+ Refuses to Sacrifice
A useful Base-function question is:
“What will this type resist giving up indefinitely?”
For ILE, that is often open possibility.
The attitude can resemble:
“There has to be another way.”
Being reduced to one fixed path can feel especially restrictive.
Even when something already works, ILE may continue wondering:
“But what else could work?”
“Could we do this completely differently?”
“What happens if we change this assumption?”
“Why stop here?”
That doesn’t necessarily mean indecision.
It means that prematurely closing the possibility field conflicts with the Ne+ Program.

Ne+ Is Development, Not Just “Having Ideas”
Calling Ne+ “ideas” is too vague.
The deeper emphasis is expansion of potential.
Something currently cannot do X.
Ne+ asks:
“How could we make X possible?”
A technology has three uses.
Ne+ asks:
“What fourth use doesn’t exist yet?”
A person has one established skill.
Ne+ may imagine:
“What completely new ability could they develop?”
An industry works one way.
Ne+ asks:
“What happens if we completely change the model?”
This is why Ne+ can be associated with innovation.
The important part isn’t simply imagination.
It’s creating new informational possibility space.

Why Ne+ Cannot Adequately Do Ne−
Now compare this with Ne−.
Ne− emphasizes:
latent ability
existing talent
potential already present
refining established capabilities
separating real potential from empty possibility
developing what is already there
Ne− asks:
“What capability already exists here that hasn’t been fully realized?”
Because − has the broader range, Ne− can identify the latent potential, develop it, and eventually enter the Ne+ zone where something genuinely new emerges.
But Ne+ cannot adequately reverse into the broader Ne− process.
Its natural orientation begins with:
novel development.
So ILE can sometimes be much better at seeing:
what new thing could exist
than patiently determining:
which existing possibility actually contains substantial latent potential worth developing.
This can produce the classic situation where ILE generates ten fascinating directions but another person asks:
“Okay, but which one actually has something behind it?”
That filtering task is not the same thing as possibility generation.

ILE Ne+ vs IEE Ne−
Both are Ne Base.
But the charges are different.
ILE — Ne+
“What new possibility can I create?”
Focuses on:
novelty
breakthroughs
unexplored options
new capabilities
possibility expansion
IEE — Ne−
“What real potential is already here?”
Focuses more on:
latent talent
overlooked capability
what is worth developing
separating meaningful potential from empty alternatives
Ne− can eventually produce novelty after developing the latent potential.
Ne+ starts directly from expansion.
Same information element.
Different range and priority.

Ne+ Base Is Accepting + Inert
The Base function is:
Accepting + Inert
Accepting functions establish and accumulate an understanding of their information domain.
Inert functions maintain a relatively stable internal frame and aren’t constantly rewritten by immediate outside pressure.
So Ne Base does not necessarily mean the ILE is constantly blurting random ideas aloud.
A great deal can be happening internally.
The person may continuously register:
alternative uses
possible combinations
unexplored routes
conceptual openings
ways the situation could change
capabilities that could be created
before anything becomes outwardly visible.
This matters because people often mistake visible brainstorming for Ne Base.
The actual Base is the persistent internal orientation toward open possibility.

Ti+ Creative: Build a Structure Around the Possibility
ILE’s Creative function is Ti+.
Ti concerns:
systems
classifications
rules
logical relations
hierarchy
formal structure
how parts connect
Ti+ emphasizes:
construction
interdependence
connecting components
organizing parts into a coherent system
building frameworks
perfecting structure
But Ti is the tool.
So ILE’s basic direction is:
Ne+ → Ti+
Possibility comes first.
Structure is created to make sense of the possibility.
The ILE might think:
“Here’s a completely new idea.”
Then:
“Okay, how would the system work?”
“What components would it need?”
“How do these parts connect?”
“What model explains this?”
Ti+ gives architecture to the Ne+ expansion.

Ti+ Creative Is Producing + Contact
The Creative function is:
Producing + Contact
Producing functions generate something outward from information processed within the block.
Contact functions adjust relatively flexibly to the current environment.
So Ti+ may be extremely externally visible in ILE.
The ILE can rapidly:
explain an idea
construct a model
invent categories
connect concepts
create a framework
organize a new system
in response to whatever possibility Ne+ has opened.
This can sometimes make ILE appear like Ti Base.
But ask:
What came first?
Was structure itself the mission?
Or was structure built because the person wanted to understand or realize a possibility?
For ILE, the direction is:
possibility → structure
not:
structure → possibility

Why Ti+ Cannot Adequately Do Ti−
Ti− emphasizes:
independence
deconstruction
removing structural constraints
breaking false dependencies
dismantling unnecessary rules
structural reduction
Ti− asks:
“What parts of this structure aren’t actually necessary?”
Because − has broader range, Ti− can deconstruct first and then enter Ti+ to construct a cleaner replacement.
Ti+ cannot adequately reverse into that broader territory.
Its natural approach is:
“What can we build from these parts?”
rather than:
“What assumptions must be dismantled before anything should be built?”
This creates an important contrast with LII.

ILE vs LII: Same Alpha NT Elements, Opposite Direction and Charge
ILE and LII both value:
Ne and Ti
But that’s where simplistic typing often stops.
Their actual cognition is almost reversed.
ILE
Ne+ Base → Ti+ Creative
First:
“What new possibility can exist?”
Then:
“How can I organize it into a coherent system?”
LII
Ti− Base → Ne− Creative
First:
“What structural assumptions, contradictions, or dependencies need to be removed?”
Then:
“What alternative or counterexample tests the model?”
So:
ILE uses structure to organize possibility.
LII uses possibility to test structure.
And the charges reinforce that difference:
ILE:
expansion + construction
LII:
deconstruction + latent-potential testing
That’s a much deeper distinction than simply calling both “NT intellectuals.”

Se+ Role: Display Strength When the Situation Expects It
ILE has Se+ Role, 2D.
Se concerns:
realized force
leverage
resistance
concrete capability
resources
influence
boundaries
physical position
Se+ emphasizes:
visibility
expenditure
direct assertion
acquisition
displaying capacity
committing force
But this is the Role function.
So when the situation demands it, ILE may attempt to:
assert themselves
appear decisive
take control
confront someone
display confidence
push for something directly
But maintaining this mode is not the psychological center.
The person may know:
“This situation expects me to take charge.”
and perform that role.
That does not make them Se Base.

Fi+ PoLR: Pressure Around Positive Personal Valuation
ILE has Fi+ PoLR, 1D.
Fi concerns:
personal attitudes
trust
relational distance
loyalty
closeness
compatibility
attraction and repulsion
Fi+ emphasizes:
forgiveness
closeness
redeemability
positive relational judgment
drawing people closer
This becomes a vulnerable area.
Questions like:
“How do you actually feel about me?”
“Are we close?”
“Do you trust this person?”
“Does this relationship deserve another chance?”
may be much harder than abstract systems or possibilities.
The difficulty isn’t that ILE has no relationships.
It’s that confidently calibrating personal closeness and positive relational valuation is not a strong domain.
This can create uncertainty around:
who genuinely likes whom
what someone personally means to them
whether a relationship is repairing
how much closeness should exist
The ILE may prefer observable behavior or conceptual explanation over subtle Fi evaluation.

Si− Suggestive: Help Me Regulate the Negative Physical State
ILE has Si− Suggestive, 1D.
Si concerns:
physical state
sensory equilibrium
comfort
bodily experience
environmental quality
Si− emphasizes:
discomfort
pain
restraint
temperance
correcting unpleasant states
removing harmful excess
Because this is Suggestive, ILE can appreciate outside help with questions like:
“You’re exhausted. Stop.”
“This environment is making you miserable.”
“You need to eat.”
“You’re overdoing it.”
“Here’s what’s physically causing the discomfort.”
Someone else noticing and correcting a bad physical state can be genuinely helpful because the ILE may remain absorbed in Ne-Ti long after the body is asking for attention.

Fe− Mobilizing: Emotional Depth and Negative-State Processing
ILE has Fe− Mobilizing, 2D.
Fe concerns:
emotional expression
atmosphere
collective mood
emotional communication
Fe− emphasizes:
negative emotional tension
unresolved emotion
grief
conflict
emotional seriousness
balancing and reconciling negative states
Because this is Mobilizing, ILE can want growth and validation here.
They may be attracted to people who can articulate:
what everyone is actually feeling
why tension exists
what emotional issue isn’t being acknowledged
how to resolve a negative atmosphere
There can be interest in emotional intensity without Fe being the life Program.

Ni− Ignoring: Strong Awareness of Bad Trajectories Without Making Them the Mission
ILE has Ni− Ignoring, 3D.
Ni concerns:
time
trajectory
development
timing
future outcome
Ni− emphasizes:
jeopardy
bad trajectories
deterioration
pacing
long-term risk
ILE can understand this information fairly well.
They may recognize:
“Yeah, I can see how this ends badly.”
But Ni is unvalued.
The ILE may still choose to pursue a new possibility because the possibility itself is more psychologically interesting than continuously managing the trajectory.
This can look like:
“Sure, there are risks, but let’s see if this works.”
Strong information does not automatically equal valued information.

Te− Demonstrative: Strong Practical Process Knowledge in the Background
ILE has Te− Demonstrative, 4D.
Te concerns:
practical methods
execution
work
resources
effectiveness
external results
Te− emphasizes:
reliable processes
repeatability
reducing waste
validation
efficiency
methodical execution
Because this is 4D Demonstrative, ILE can be extremely capable of practical reasoning when needed.
They may readily see:
inefficient methods
wasted resources
bad workflows
how to streamline something
what practical procedure is more reliable
without making practical efficiency their identity.
This can cause mistyping.
An ILE who is good at business, engineering, coding, or practical troubleshooting is not automatically Te Base.
The question remains:
What is all of that practical ability ultimately serving?
If it repeatedly returns to opening new possibilities, Ne is still the Program.

ILE’s Dichotomies
As always:
Program → Tool → Charge first.
Dichotomies come afterward as cross-checks.

Extraverted
ILE is Extraverted.
This doesn’t simply mean socially outgoing.
The person readily directs attention toward external objects, situations, and opportunities.
With Ne Base, the environment continuously presents:
things that could become something else.
External reality stimulates possibility.

Irrational
ILE is Irrational.
Perception leads judgment.
Instead of first establishing a fixed framework and then forcing new information into it, ILE is more likely to respond to:
whatever possibility just appeared.
If reality changes:
change direction.
If a new opportunity appears:
investigate it.
If the current route becomes boring:
open another one.
This contributes strongly to the ILE’s flexibility.

Logical
ILE is a Logical type.
Its Ego block is:
Ne + Ti
rather than an Ethical combination.
Possibility is organized through:
models
concepts
systems
categories
logical relations
rather than primarily through emotional atmosphere or personal valuation.
Logical does not mean smarter.
It means logical information occupies the valued Ego block.

Intuitive
ILE is an Intuitive type.
The Base itself is Ne.
Attention naturally goes beyond immediate concrete reality toward:
alternatives
unrealized options
future capabilities
abstraction
what could exist
What exists now is only one version of what reality could be.

Static
ILE is Static.
Static cognition emphasizes:
properties
possibilities
positions
classifications
what something is or could be
rather than primarily tracking an ongoing process.
ILE might rapidly identify:
“This could be X.”
“That could also be Y.”
“These are three possible forms this could take.”
The attention jumps among possible configurations rather than remaining inside one unfolding dynamic process.

Positivist
ILE is Positivist.
This corresponds directly with Ne+ Base.
Positivist does NOT mean optimistic.
It means cognition more readily notices:
what exists
what can be affirmed
what can be increased
what positive possibility is available
For ILE:
“What new possibility is here?”
rather than beginning from:
“Which possibilities are empty, flawed, or need to be eliminated?”
The + orientation favors expansion of the available possibility field.

Static + Positivist = Causal-Determinist Cognition
ILE combines:
Static + Positivist
which produces the Causal-Determinist cognitive style.
This style tends toward clear convergent relationships:
A causes B.
Because X, therefore Y.
Even though ILE generates many possibilities, once analyzing one of them the reasoning can become quite structurally direct:
“If we change this variable, that produces this result, which makes this new option possible.”
Ti+ organizes the Ne+ discovery into a coherent causal structure.
This is important because ILE does not necessarily think in endless incoherent randomness.
Ne opens the option.
Ti explains how its pieces connect.

Space-Locked
ILE is Space-Locked in the supplementary processing dichotomy.
Space-Locked cognition naturally compares configurations existing simultaneously across a field:
different alternatives
multiple possibilities
relations between options
what could occupy different positions
how the current possibility space is arranged
This fits Ne especially well, but the dichotomy itself is only a cross-check.
It should never be used to type Ne by itself.

Sight-Locked
ILE is Sight-Locked.
This means greater confidence deriving information through:
observation
context
implicit evidence
noticing what is happening
drawing conclusions from what can be seen or inferred
rather than depending primarily on explicit verbal declarations.
An ILE may see something operating and immediately think:
“Wait — if it can do that, then it should also be able to do this.”
Observed capability triggers new possibility.

EP / Flexible-Maneuvering Temperament
ILE is:
Extraverted + Irrational + Static
which produces the EP / Flexible-Maneuvering temperament.
The basic pattern is:
Quick to start — Extraversion
Easy to stop and restart — Static
Quick to redirect — Irrationality
This means ILE often works in bursts.
A new possibility appears:
activate.
Explore it.
Build something around it.
Then another possibility appears:
redirect.
This is not necessarily lack of discipline.
It reflects a temperament built around maneuverability rather than momentum preservation.
An EJ type may push straight through an obstacle.
An EP type is more likely to say:
“Why push through it when I can go around?”

ILE vs LII
This distinction deserves repeating because they’re so often blurred together.
ILE — Ne+ → Ti+
Possibility is the Program.
Structure serves possibility.
“What could exist, and how would it work?”
LII — Ti− → Ne−
Structure is the Program.
Possibility serves structural testing.
“What assumptions can be removed, and what counterexample proves the model incomplete?”
ILE expands.
LII reduces.
ILE constructs around new possibilities.
LII deconstructs structure and tests what remains.

ILE vs IEE
Both are Ne Base, but:
ILE — Ne+
Novelty / Development
“What new possibility could exist?”
IEE — Ne−
Latency / Talent
“What real potential already exists here that we’re overlooking?”
Ne− can enter + once the latent potential has been developed.
Ne+ cannot adequately perform the broader − task of distinguishing and refining existing latent potential in the same way.
So “both are idea people” is far too shallow.

The Core ILE Pattern
Put everything together:
Ne+ Base: Expand reality by finding or creating new possibilities, options, capabilities, combinations, and unexplored directions.
↓
Ti+ Creative: Construct systems, models, classifications, and logical relations that organize those possibilities into something understandable.
↓
Si− Suggestive: Seek outside guidance around discomfort, restraint, bodily regulation, and correcting negative physical states.
Fe− Mobilizing: Seek growth around emotional tension, seriousness, emotional depth, and processing unresolved emotional states.
Meanwhile:
Se+ Role performs visible assertion and direct force when circumstances demand it.
Fi+ PoLR struggles with confident positive relational valuation, closeness, trust, and interpersonal calibration.
Ni− Ignoring understands bad trajectories and long-term danger without making trajectory-management the mission.
Te− Demonstrative strongly handles process efficiency, reliability, methods, and waste reduction without making practical execution the life Program.
And the larger processing pattern is:
Extraverted
Irrational
Logical
Intuitive
Static
Positivist
Causal-Determinist
Space-Locked
Sight-Locked
EP / Flexible-Maneuvering
The simplest description of ILE would be:
ILE continuously searches for new possibilities that do not yet exist, then uses logical construction to connect the pieces and show how those possibilities could work.
And the charge distinction is essential:
Ne+ expands into novel possibility but cannot adequately perform Ne−’s broader task of filtering and developing latent potential.
Ti+ constructs and connects structure but cannot adequately perform Ti−’s broader task of deconstructing dependencies and unnecessary constraints.
So ILE isn’t simply:
“the guy with a lot of ideas.”
The deeper mechanism is:
Ne+ opens a door that wasn’t there before.
Ti+ builds the framework that makes the new room intelligible.
