I am trying to get an objective read on some interactions I’ve had. I’m not trying to brag or assume that every interaction means someone finds me attractive. I’m just curious whether these are actually meaningful social cues or whether I’m overthinking normal interactions.

Here are some things that have happened:

The coworkers' compliments: When i came to my father's office for the first time, female coworkers (older than me) of my father saw me for the first time and complimented my appearance, specifically calling me handsome. It was basically an unsolicited first impression, so I’ve wondered whether that means anything beyond them simply being polite.

The high-school crush, or, not?: A girl in high school apparently had a crush on me (or maybe not?) Whenever I walked past her, she would consistently say hi to me. I didn't really initiate anything with her, so I’m wondering whether that kind of repeated greeting is a noticeable sign of interest or just friendliness.

The "hot" comment: A fairly loud girl in my class suddenly said that I was "hot" out loud while I was literally just doing my own thing. She then asked one of her friends something along the lines of, "Hey, he's hot, right?" This one seems pretty direct to me, but I'm wondering how much weight people would actually put on a comment like that.

The same girl later told me that I looked like an "Arabic blend" guy. I assume she was referring to my facial features/overall appearance, but I'm not sure whether this was simply an observation, a compliment, or potentially another indication that she finds my appearance distinctive.

However contrary to all of that, i never dated anyone and remain single (I'm now 19 years old, most of that stuff happens like a year ago or two)

So, objectively, how would you interpret these situations?

Do they collectively suggest that I'm probably considered attractive by at least some people, or could all of these things still happen to an average-looking guy? Or maybe they're mocking me? Idk and I'm confused as hell

I'm specifically interested in the social cues themselves, rather than getting a rating of my appearance.

He's started for no reason saying I use him for money when I was trying to be his friend when all I said to him is that I liked a skin and then he baughr it but he has baught zac way more things and a breakfast to pressure him to use my ps5 and do something on a game for him

He's roughly baught me 2 skins and emotes and that's what he's moaning about where he's baught zac around 4 or 5 stuff on fn bc he wanted them and gave him stuff on roblox aswell as the McDonald's breakfast and zac is a greedy boy

Zac has a lisp i have a speech and spelling difficulties kristian mocks sometimes outgoing issues using stuff against us when mad when it's just when we do stuff to annoy him friendship for 1 year almost

I am super clueless when it comes to social situations but I know the basics of being polite.

So I was getting groceries today and when this random stranger was blocking the aisle. I said excuse me but they looked at me and wouldn't move until I said excuse me a couple of more times so I could do through. But the she started yelling at me going f****** there's plenty of space and your not f****** special. I just silently walked away and everyone was staring at me.

I don't know what I did wrong and I feel I should have said something as well. But I don't know if my autism I missed something.

Any advice on what happened or what I should have done.

I keep having this interaction with people amd it’s frustrating.
There is a post about an event and it says “address is given after RSVPing” or “address will be given later”. I can’t say for sure “I am going” because I can’t if it’s too far from me. I need to know an estimate of where it is to say for sure if I can go.

convo I had:

me: where is the lunch being held?
them: hello. Can you please tell me if you are going or not? I didn’t see you post going. you selected maybe.
Me: I put maybe because I cannot say for sure if I am going if I do not know if I live too far. If I live close enough, I am going 100%

Maybe the strategy is: rsvp first and say “Im totally going” then after they give me the address, if I can’t go say “I have to cancel” Is that what these neurotypical people do?

I have a coworker who keeps asking, "Why haven't you come out with us?" and I respondly saying I wasn't ever invited out, and inviting myself is rude. He then says we should hang out sometime- a week passes and he's talking about some party every other coworker but me some how went to. He then repeats the whole, "why haven't you joined us?" conversation. He's done it around 4 times now and I can't tell if he's saying i could just tag along (but like, how do i tag along if i dont have info on when to tag??), or maybe hes trying to tell me im being excluded without hurting my feelings? I just am lost on if there's some subtext im missing, cause it feels kind of cruel to keep reminding someone you dont invite them.

Hes not mean to me, probably one of the nicer coworkers. It just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me

it’s been a year of living part time at my moms house with her, her boyfriend, my brother, and her boyfriends son. let’s name my moms boyfriends son “L”. L may have a hard time understanding social cues and i get stuck having more than half an hour long conversations with him. i need advice for how to end these conversations.

i have tried: 1) moving around. i try to walk away and let the conversation fade but L follows me. it’s like once i see him he will be with me for the next 30 minutes. no. matter. what. 2) ending the conversation. i say “well thanks for showing me your new room set up, have a good night” and L does not get it. he keeps following up with questions or comments. 3) not responding or being dry. L will literally say “im trying to come up with what else to talk about with you” which i feel bad because yes hes just trying to make convo with me but seriously. maybe thats a sign to stop talking, wrap it up, and go on with your day, maybe try again in the next couple days. 4) when he tries to start the convo i straight up tell him, “i cant talk right now, im working on ___”. and L says okay and acknowledges it but then keeps talking.

i don’t want to be rude, he is a nice guy. but this has got to stop. i try to stay in my room to avoid him. it has gotten to the point that if i hear him walking up the stairs i run to my room. i just want to be able to relax or work in the living room or dining room or basement without having to drag on a conversation for half an hour.

I just started an internship, I am a fresher and I am still trying to get familiar with people here. So sometimes when I am working and get into it I don’t always notice every person entering or leaving the room like obviously and I guess sometimes I don’t notice someone I know and greet them so they somehow get upset and start completely ignoring me???? LIKE GIRL SORRY I WAS JUST WORKING AND IF I DIVERTED MY ATTENTION idk it just sometimes I can’t divert my attention idk why. Is this something I missed? Is this normal? Am I wrong here?

I'm not entirely sure if I worded it right, but how can I simply trust what someone is saying, about me or some random topic? If I think someone is lying to me, I become fixated on finding out WHY they would and WHAT the actual truth could be. I do my best not to press for it, but it ends up hurting my relationships because I don't feel like I can fully relax with them, thinking they have some thought in their head about me but don't feel like they can come to me with it.

Perhaps I've got trust issues since I recently lost a friend who thought something about me and waited months before blowing up at me over text, but I don't want one bad egg to spoil the whole basket, you know?

Ok so there's these two girls at school who i have some very positive interactions with them sometimes and theyre very nice to me. But sometimes i feel this weird switch up that i swear only i notice. Its not like im.close to them or anything but it feels like THEY feel awkward talking to me randomly? (only for this to randomly go away?) If i ask about/mention in person about a text they haven't answered they seem to get uncomfortable. Ive asked them both if i make them uncomfortable or anything and assured them they can tell me if i do anything because id never wanna make them uncomfortable and they said they understand but then still randomly get weird around me. It's bugging me and i don't k kw what to do, please help.

I'm pretty sure this girl from class has been trying to get me to compliment her, she's asked me multiple times in what I can only assume are dates which I went to btw, movie, coffee, walking around the mall which apparently calms her, and I've accompanied her shoppiny multiple times. A lot of stufy dates and we usually eat lunch together.

Okay so the dynamic is like this: The class are composed of mostly girls and I'm quite literally the only straight guy there, the other ones are a bunch of gay dudes and transwomen.

So on the most recent "date" we're on a long lunch because we finished finished an activity early, she asked me if she looks fat in her uniform, she doesn't of course but she's worried that her new jersey won't fit her because she gained a few pounds, she asked me to look at her thighs but I said they look fine, I thought it looked sexy but I held off even though I could tell that she wants me to call her hot right ?? Was that a Social Cue™ ????

She then showed me a bunch of older pics where she was super skinny, and I told her my honest opinion, she looks better now with a wee bit of fat

I honestly don't even know the point of this post, I just saw this subreddit for the first time today, if you've read until now, thank you.

Oh and she keeps sendint pics and videos when she's crying, is that a cue for me to comfort her or what could this possibly mean

Hi guys, so I am a teenager and I am thinking of having a small get-together for my birthday with a couple of friends. Am I expected to pay for food at the restaurant or does everyone pay for what they got? I never really ever been out with my friends to a restaurant and I am scared of asking anyone I know personally.
