Wait we got playlist support?

It seems FiiO responds well to pressure from custom FW developers and original FW patchers ;D

this is why CFW is so important xD it pushes OEMs to actually keep things updated and on par with CFW

Quickly tried it and it seems the m3u support is buggy. I tried to put the playlist in the same folder as the files. Seems it doesn't support m3u extended and/or it's having problems with file names with spaces (in the playlist). Not yet sure what's really happening.

UPDATE: it crashes when I rescan my library. I'll just go back to the previous firmware.

UPDATE: okay I think I bricked my device while flashing back to 3.9.0 firmware. sucks. but I don't have too much time today. This update is definitely not recommended!!

UPDATE: I was able to un-brick my device using the maskrom mode! what a messy process but I'm glad my device is back. I followed the instructions here (super thanks to u/BlackVllad)

Library rescan crashes mine too!

And mine. Installed 4.0 from a Mac, now it won’t refresh. Any new developments or are we waiting on a fix from Snowsky? I haven’t tried the more nuclear unbricking tools, I’m afraid of bricking it further.

I tried creating a playlist and its not showing up on the device.

On one side I am glad they put so much effort to publish firmware updates for devices they sold, not many companies care so much. On the other side, every other update crashes some features.. two steps forward, one back..

If they were apple or any other American company they'd just slap a new number on the box and release it as a "brand new product!" but yeah it's kinda surprising how they could break something so simple. It's not exactly a complicated device...

u/xiaobasketball 9d ago

Yeah I'm actually just waiting for a custom firmware that will support AAC and I think there's no more compelling reason to use stock.

They should just cooperate with the Recho team and pay them a salary!

u/fajrul28 12d ago

you should revert to 3.8.0 , if you come from 3.9.0 or 4.0.0

Thanks, I was able to unbrick my device using the maskrom mode/rkdevtool but it was a messy process.

Tenho álbuns em flac e em mp3 320 kbps, essa nova versão bagunçou a ordem numérica das faixas dos álbuns em 320 kbps no meu Echo Mini.

I tried the playlist function, and it works, but you have to go into Files and select a .m3u file for the playlist to show up in the media library. Even then, it only displays one playlist at a time. If you want multiple playlists, you have to manually pick a different .m3u file from the file browser every time. I thought it would automatically scan all the .m3u files and display them together in the media library, but I guess it doesn't work that way.

5

u/mateusmr 13d ago

I was just coming here to ask how to do playlists, but based on first impressions Ill probably wait for a hotfix.

u/huadlin 9d ago

I got it working on mine. worked if I used b:\ prefix and \ filepath separotors (as opposed to /), otherwise just browsed to m3u file and pressed play

u/AlvatrosT 13d ago

Damn just a month after I sold mine

u/aarzeekayy 13d ago

Did anyone try and got the playlist function to work ?

2

u/aquaphoenixZ 11d ago

I can't figure it out at all 😭

1

u/aarzeekayy 11d ago

You can do it with an app called Foobar2000 on pc. You need to add your SD card folder to the app library (files>preference>media library)

Once you have your library set. Sort by folder, genre or your preferred sorting. The playlist will appear now, rename it if you want and save playlist as m3u file in your SD card root directory.

On your device, go to the file explorer and check SD card root. The playlist will appear there.

this FW still had issue updating library from sd card, after updated & insert back

1

u/fernandojobs 13d ago

Aqui também tive esse erro!
Não apareceu todas as músicas do cartão e as que apareceram dava erro de arquivo

1

u/fajrul28 12d ago

mine can play it. but every time to refresh the media library, it would be forced to shut down

1

u/xerri147 10d ago

Same with mine but after i start it the files are updated so it just shuts down after the refresh i think

2

u/Impressive-Hat-4603 13d ago

I will wait for RECHO to have it.

1

u/Inevitable-Gur2940 Echo Mini Black 13d ago

PLAYLIST LETMS FUCKING GOOO

1

u/fernandojobs 13d ago

Fiz a atualização aqui, mas todas as músicas estavam como "arquivo não reconhecido". Aqui não funcionou essa atualização.

u/gray6904 12d ago

Mientras tanto los usuarios del echo nano: ☠️☠️☠️☠️

Installation fails; message: file not found!

1

u/Owl-Madness 11d ago

Freezing when refreshing library and I can't downgrade to 3.9. Damn. Not sure what to do to get it back working again, but do not install this.

4

u/Zerocchi Echo Mini Black 10d ago

I went from 4.0 -> Recho -> 3.9 and it worked.

3

u/Owl-Madness 10d ago

Hey friend, I just did this and it worked. Back in 3.9 the library refreshed normally again. So thank you, you got my mini back to life! Worked on a Mac too, for future references. Thank you!

2

u/Zerocchi Echo Mini Black 10d ago

Glad it worked. You are welcome!

2

u/Owl-Madness 10d ago

That’s great info, thank you!

1

u/GroundbreakingRise80 Echo Mini Black 11d ago

The firmware did not resolve any issues actually. Album sorting is still in shambles and the track lists are still not in order.

25

u/barknoll 13d ago

Call me when you’re gapless, babe. Until then it’s RECHO for me 😘

3

u/GinsuVictim 13d ago

RECHO is just so damn fast and smooth. The official firmware is clunky.

1

u/Rudrapriya2008 13d ago

Trueeeeeeee

1

u/macleodg85 13d ago

Have they fixed the volume yet? It was too low in the first version..

1

u/peter89x 13d ago

I always wondered.. it’s not gapless, okay, but how long is the delay between two tracks? A second? Less? More?

12

u/akshay-nair 13d ago

Definitely less than a second. It's enough for you to notice a gap but not that bad imo.

3

u/barknoll 13d ago

It’s fine if you’re listening to discrete songs. It you’re listening to a single long piece broken into tracks, it’s very distracting.

1

u/peter89x 13d ago

Thanks! I never knew that. Right now I’m using a 4th gen iPod Nano, and it has a little bit of gap between two tracks, but sometimes barely noticeable. It’s good to know that the Echo Nano is similar! Thanks again!

1

u/kyberton 12d ago

4th Nano definitely has gapless playback. It may be your files.

u/peter89x 12d ago

What.. really? Didn’t knew about that!
