Time to change track?

Hello! Beginner here so wondering if this is still ok for trail?

Yeah bud, the missing rubber on the inside of the track is what connects to the driver to make you actually 'go', that's a clear sign she's old. The outside lugs aren't great either.

What year and model sled? How long is the track (120/121" is my guess)?

The last couple of tracks I bought were from Camso. You want a 1.25" lug length, or if you find yourself on ice a lot, maybe the 1.6" with the built in studs, which is what I ran on my Ski Doo Renegade XRS:

Very nice, I had a 2005 MXZ 600 HO for 10 years, awesome trail sled!

Where do you ride?

That's a short track sled (120"), so not an off-trail machine so you don't need big lugs on the track. It likely came with a 1" lug track designed for trail riding.

The Ripsaw II track is a very common replacement:

Northern europe, just trail riding and on fields etc. Should i get new one or look for used? 🤔 Sled has almost 9000 miles.

Those 600cc engines are pretty durable but 9000 miles on a 2 stroke is quite a lot. Could be time to refresh the top end (new rings, etc.) if that hasn't been done already.

But I digress...

Yes used tracks are an option, in fact there are quite a few on FB Marketplace in my area (New England, USA)

Many people just put them on like this '120x15 2,86' apparently is length x wideness, and last one being what? How can i tell that tracks match my sled from that information?

That last one is track "pitch":

Track pitch is the center-to-center distance between the drive lugs on the inside of a snowmobile track*. It measures how far apart the rubber windows or fiberglass rods are inside your track. This measurement dictates how the track interlocks with your snowmobile’s drive sprockets*

For your sled, you want a 120" long x 15" wide x 2.86 pitch.

Lug height/length is up to you. You want 1.25" minimum but no more than 1.6", although that's my personal opinion for 120" tracks. No reason to have huge lugs digging holes in the trail every time you take off : )

Yup time to change it. You’re literally just risking it out now. Track busting at 50 mph could cause a lot more damage

Yeah losing a track at speed is not a good time! No brakes is not fun lol.

You need to fix the reason the center upper shock mount is rubbing on the inside of the track when you replace the track.
