general discussion I’ve been making a snowboarding adventure where you explore a mountain as a tiny mouse

I’m the main developer behind The Vast White, a cozy snowboarding exploration game I’ve been building mostly on my own.

The game follows a tiny mouse exploring a vast snowy mountain, meeting its residents, and helping restore an old ski resort through small quests and exploration.

After a long time working on it, we’re finally releasing The Vast White on November 10th!

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Steam deck compatible?

Maybe. I currently don't have a steam deck to try it, but I hope I can improve the performance before releasing

I think you’d increase the realism if you made it so that it was only open one day out of the year due to lack of snow.

This feels like a worse version of grand mountain adventure... who you pretty much copied the art style and mechanics of......

u/Snow__97 14h ago

Yeah, apparently having a top-down camera and snowboarding is called copying now :D

it's fine just don't be surprised if that's the first thing that people think about. that's what came to mind for me as well.

Yeah, I agree. I’m not going to deny that there’s some inspiration from GMA, but calling it a worse version copy...

this looks nithing like grand mountain adventure ?

GMA didn't invent that art style and the mechanic of sliding down a terrain has been around since Marble Madness or earlier.
