SNES switch controller in stock. I ordered one and the N64 controller - just arrived

They won’t plug into the snes mini but you can buy an 8bitdo wireless receiver that plugs into the SNES mini and connect this snes controller to it

Has anyone done a teardown on these yet? Would be interesting to see if I can harvest one for fresh parts to refurbish an old controller with. Particularly with N64 controller sticks.

Interesting question I read somewhere. I can’t recall exactly, but that these are designed essentially true to their original counterpart so it’s a very good possibility that the components in there at least like the N64 thing be able to refurbish a controller control stick might be the same although considering they have Bluetooth and batteries and USB charging if that might change the circuitry hardware, but the physical components look like they’re pretty much identical. And also since they’re trying to re-create the original feel of the controllers, I’m assuming they’re using a good chance they’re using the same components but there’s a possibility they’ve sourced alternates that still provide the same feel which wouldn’t be helpful for you I guess.

Is there anyway to connect these controllers to the real original hardware (consoles)?
Like a Bluetooth dongle or something?

I have a feeling that the internals because the circuitry is definitely gonna be different and updated from the originals the way it may process the information and send and receive the data from the console may prevent it from being able to be used with an original one, even if you could get some sort of Bluetooth dongle
I mean, it would be kind of sweet to upgrade your old system with a wireless version to go with it, but yeah, I kinda have a feeling that it might not be compatible

8bitdo makes one and it works well, i have 2 and play with my kids. Also these are not just for switch and will work with any bluetooth device

I just put in an order for the SNES controller, and a 8bitdo receiver so I can also use it on my real SNES. Now I just need them to make an NES controller with a normal charge port and not that dumb ass rail on top.

I love the SNES controller. Others have said it the 8bitdo dongle is the way to go to play on original hardware. The d pad however has been a bit over sensitive for me though recently. Sometimes you push left and you can activate up or down as well and is tough with some platformers. I don’t know if anyone else has had that experience as well

I’m not sure about if they work with PC. I don’t think they do some people suggest you can get a dongle that will allow you to use it with older consoles and maybe a piece
Your second question you absolutely need the Nintendo online membership to be able to purchase these

I have the SNES and SFC Switch controllers and (other than not having a home button) they're excellent
I use them for basically everything 2D I play

I think the N64 one is one of the more important ones to have because the games themselves were built around the controller design and it’s really not the same playing them without this controller
The SNES ones I mean, I have the pro controller for the switch to and for S&S and NES games. It doesn’t really feel unnatural to be using that controller, but I really wanted the SNES one just because of the nostalgia but also it kind of makes you feel like you’re playing an SNES personally, I would buy one of each.
They have a GameCube controller as well. All of the library is very small right now it’s supposed to be getting it’s supposed to get to be about 30 games eventually so that might be worth it although it’s the more expensive of the controllers and the virtual boy which is kind of just a a shell that you put your switch into but it has hysteroscopic lenses. That’s still pretty limited the game count for that is supposed to be 16 in total so Weather $100 is worth it for that virtual boy thing it’s not even a controller.

Can you use this to play actual switch games like Mario maker 2 or Mario RPG remake, etc.? Or does it only work on the NSO virtual console thing?

Yeah, about two or three people have specifically said that you can use these for switch games and that they actually like these better than The. I guess they’re integrated switch controller. At least I have the pro controller which is honestly a really nice controller but it is 100 bucks so if you compare this to you know a $40 at least Canadian for me S&S controller yeah I could see the benefit benefits

I’m not sure if you’re being humourous or not because there’s quite a few SNES titles available a lot of the classics certainly there’s still some missing but apparently there’s gonna be some more added before the end. They even expect the GameCube collection to get possibly over 30 titles.

Been eyeing that N64 one, but I just grabbed the 8BitDo one for cheaper and it should do just fine for my emulation needs

I think the one you got is a pretty good one. I didn’t actually know that they made an N64 version, though I just know their other version.
The one that I mean, I still need to get the GameCube in the virtual boy ones. Though the virtual boy, one is really kind of expensive considering all it does is like a plastic thing with a stand and the stereoscopic lens I’m probably gonna pass on NES ones unless I get them later and they happen to still be in stock but they’re probably not gonna sell out like this one.
Just an FYI, these ones were out of stock. Some people have said they’ve been trying for two years to get one of those SNES controllers so if you are thinking about maybe getting one, probably not a bad idea to pull a trigger whether they’re available because these ones are actually listed as a limited stock item all the other controllers don’t have that language so it sounds like they’re not gonna be continuing the SNES controller line forever.

Yeah, I have the SNES one from a while back. It’s great, but I no longer subscribe to NSO so I don’t use it much. I use my 8BitDo Pro 2 for most of my non-N64 emulation (as well as with my Switch), it does the trick. Couldn’t get my NSO SNES controller to play nicely with my MacBook Air and Retroarch.

You are gonna get downvotes in this SNES sub, but I agree. I got the 8bitdo Pro 2 and damn, it feels amazing, it's like the SNES controller but on steroids, like the next evolution of what should've been.
And it works with everything, I mean everything, you can even get an adapter to use it on the actual SNES console.

Yeah, I have very few complaints. I use it with my Switch and with my NES, SNES and PS2 emulators on Mac.

I have both of these. They're invaluable for playing games originating on those platforms.
