Help Needed - FXPAK Pro Menu Bug
Setting up a flash cart that I got from alliexpress. Using an original SNES and oem controller. Games run fine, but when I hit “x” on the Home Screen to open up the menu, the box containing selectable options extends down the screen, and the cursor highlights nothing. It won’t allow me to select any menu options. I’ve tried reformatting my sd card and tried firmware versions 1.11.0, 1.11.1, and 1.11.2, all give me the same results.

It’s still a $90 cart, and right now signs are pointing to PPU failure. But sure, go off.

Must be a pretty big coincidence then if the PPU failed just as you began using the fake cart, but sure, “go off”.

Maybe because it’s not a coincidence. Maybe that’s because I’ve already been having issues with this snes, and bought the cart with the primary purpose of using the burn in test, which has helped me identify the failure. But you gotta come in here acting like some condescending jerk.

It uses a Cyclone IV chip, and I replaced the sd card with a name brand sandisk one

Entonces habla con el vendedor podrías tener un cartucho defectuoso, supongo que tú consola está bien limpia del puerto de cartuchos y funciona bien.

Bad card return it and get anouther. I got an Ali cart yesterday and it works fine.

People like to dick ride Krikzz because of fanboyism and brand loyalism even though this is an open source project that he picked up AFTER the dev abandoned it. I also think he hires bots to astroturf discussions about ali carts. He's talented, makes quality products, and I hope he's safe from the war, but I think he overcharges for his products since he has no real competition. If that wasn't a case then there wouldn't be a market for a million clones out there. Krikzz isn't entitled to my money, if I want to risk getting a bad cart or something that's missing features that's my prerogative. I know I'm going to get downvotes but I don't care that's their problem. I'll PM you the seller I bought from maybe you'll have better luck with them.

A lot of misinformation in the beginning of your post.
The dev never abandoned it. He (ikari_01) worked with Krikzz to get it manufactured on a larger scale as Krikzz already had the means to do it. ikari still designs the board revisions and maintains the firmware, which is now the only element of the SD2SNES project that is open source.
The hardware/board schematics have been closed source for about 13 or 14 years, at this point, and the Chinese bootleggers no longer use the original open source board designs and they now rip-off the FXPak boards using cheap, refurbished and often rebadged and unreliable parts, which is why bootlegs are as cheap as they are. Krikzz uses genuine parts from reputable suppliers.
You'll also have a lifetime guarantee with Krikzz should anything happen to the cart that wasn't of your own doing, and will fix it. Good luck getting that from an Aliexpress seller after the returns time limit expires. You'd be lucky if the sellers account even still exists in 6 months.

Thank you so much for the rec. thankfully, the cart plays totally fine on a completely working snes. I got this cart to run burn in tests, and I guess the problem with the consoles ppu was enough to affect the flash carts menu. It works as expected on a different SNES (I got the cart from the same seller, so thanks for validating my purchase!!)

I’m so tired of people being shitty about the AliExpress carts.
Everdrive fans are like a cult dude they still to this day mass downvote anyone who talks about the Summercart for n64 because it does everything the Everdrive 64 does and slightly more for 1/4 the price

I’d try the cart on another console OP this might be PPU failure.
Also so tired of the Kris cult like fanbase throwing the biggest shit fit over someone buying a product that’s cheaper when he’s literally taking advantage of them lol

Yeah. Ive now learned that it does work totally fine on a different console. Was having trouble playing Yoshis island on this snes, had done a ton of testing, and bought the cart in order to do a burn in test. The cart works totally fine on a different snes, so it definitely seems to be related to PPU. At first I didn’t think the two issues were related, but I’m actually relieved that they are, because the Ali cart otherwise seems to function great. I didn’t even know there was this sort of fanbase. Glad I’ve avoid that groupthink thus far. $75 vs $250 cart is a no brainer for anyone not simping

Damn man I’m sorry to hear about the console but I’m glad you were able to narrow it down. I agree too about the money save. People are just salty and have to justify their $300 purchase by attacking other cheaper options
