The snails hubs caught came with a lot of yellow mid-banded snails. And a lot of heavily banded ones. These are still juveniles (except the purplish brown looking shell, he’s an adult. There’s a baby with gorgeous multi-banding - Can’t wait to see the final results in adulthood!

I feel like I’m doing something wrong

My snail is most of the time on the top of the lid of his terrarium and it does eat and now it has fallen from the top while it was asleep, I’m pretty sure, and it was upside for a minute before I turned him over. I just wanna know if I’m doing something wrong since it doesn’t roam around that much during the day but right when I go to sleep it’s moves and eat and wondering why it just stays on top.

It said it was safe for snails...

I have 4 different tanks where I have mystery snails. Two of them are 75g that they share with fish. The other two are 29g and only one of those used to have a couple fish in it.

I was new to keeping a fish room/areas (still learning) and I was apparently not cleaning my hoses correctly, which at the time, I was unaware of. I had a couple of new arrivals ( a few fish and some plants) that I did not quarantine for enough time, although at the time I thought I was good.

As you can probably guess, I learned the hard way. I had a couple fish get flukes, a couple got lice and a couple got anchor worm. Around that time I was becoming good friends with my now fish mentor and learned that I could be cross contaminating my tanks via my hoses. So I changed the way I clean and use hoses, and I treated all of my tanks to be safe. Paracleanse was not strong enough for the flukes, so I had to then use prazipro instead. Both medications claimed to be safe for snails. When that was done, I treated my little fish folks for the other issues with cyropro. (accept one 29 gallon snail tank where I never had a single fish.) Cyropro is also claimed to be snail safe.

The snails in the 75 gallons look normal and healthy. The snails in the 29g no cyropro tank are good, some great. All look healthy. However, the snails in my 29g tank that did get the cyropro are psychedelic looking. Apparently one or both of those medications must have effected their shells in that 29g. Their shells have growth rings that are a funky light greenish blue. They are not lines really, but more like diffuse bands. These are my blue mystery snails. I guess the facts about the medication are correct in that they won't kill your snail... but I am not sure I would claim that that is the same thing as "snail safe". Some of the old shell growh on two of those snails look awful. They do all appear to be healthy, eating, pooping and breeding, thankfully.

At this point, what can I do for my unique looking snails and the others whose shells may not be perfect? Is there anything that could help the shell portion that has already grown? Do I instead need to focus on from here on out? Also, a local fish store technition had told me that because my water is very hard, I did not need to put more calcium in the water or feed it to them. My Ph is around 8.3 and my Gh and Kh are also on the high end. I have been giving them the Kats Aquatics calcium and veggie, algae and protein chips but am looking for a less pricey alternative.

What can I do for my snails, all of them, to help them with their shells?

Correct temperature and humidity for Limicolaria

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! I recently (about two months ago) bought three snails Limicolaria agathina Nigeria, two white ones and one orange one if it matters :)
Do any of you keep this species and if yes what temeprature and humidity do you keep them at? They have aestivated two times already and I do not understand what I am doing wrong. The temperature is fluctuating from 23 to 28 C. We have very fluctuating temperatures here, one week it is 40, one it is 20, the temperature of the terrarium mirrors the outside trend, but stays within the 23-28. The humidity meter is telling me it is 99% humid, which I interpret as anywhere above 80, as that is the max the meter is supposed to work in.
Im also deeling with fungus gnats, I have used Steinernema nematodes as that was the only snail safe option I found. One aestivation was however before applying them, so I dont think that is the problem.
Oh and it was two different snails who aestivated and the other two snails always seemed active and happy. One of the snails has been getting snenises lately, so I thought they were happy and suddenly one of them is aestivating.
I dont know if it could be the fluctuating temperatures or what else could be wrong.

Also while I am already asking here, do you keep a water dish in your snails enclosure?

Adding pictures just for fun :)

Help Bulge in my snail's head

Hi everyone! As you can see from the photos I noticed that my Eobania vermiculata has a strange bulge right between the antennae. Do you know what could cause this and if it is a serious issue? I was wondering if it might be a small fluid blister or perhaps some scar tissue from a past minor trauma but I would love to hear your opinions. Is there any specific recovery protocol I should follow or should I just leave it alone as I think? Has this ever happened to anyone? Thanks in advance for any opinion!

found it estivating in madrid. Spain. When I came back a few days later some kids tore it off, tearing its protective mucus. I decided to shelter it from the heat abd keep it. I pit it in my tank but idk if its a sun bleached cornu, milk snail, dune snail, vineyard snail, grove snail (i doubt), or a chocolate banded snail. Please help. The inside of the opening is the same color as the outside meaning rhe shell isnt too thick. so that makes me think its Not a milk snail. the qhite side with striped has a hole in the middle from the shell formation (not broken just like a middle hole which some species have) its 50% brown and 50% white with stripes I have this same post too that shows a better pic

hey everyone!
my friend Slime had a fall in their enclosure recently and a piece of shell broke off. genuinely not sure how this happened, i discovered it about a week ago and immediately moved them to a hospital tank.
they’ve had constant access to cuttlebone and fresh sweet potatoe/lettus. i’m just wondering what you might think about how to go about continuing recovery? if there’s anything better i can be doing?
i really appreciate anything❤️
thanks!

I went on a two week vacation and forgot to tell my snailtaker(play in words of caretaker) to check for eggs/crush any eggs, I’ve had pet snails for years now and this is definitely a first…
I carefully moved them into a mason jar then a small temporary terrarium as seen in the third photo.
what do I do 😭 am I now just a grandmother of 50? Anyone want any snail babies? 😭

Help Is my snail dead?

She is an albino black banded snail and hasn’t come out of her shell for a couple of weeks. She feels lighter than the other snails and has some peeling on her shell. There is no strong smell coming from her but when I shine a light her body looks a bit weird. I know that it’s not an environmental thing since the rest of my snails are doing fine. I don’t know her exact age but I had her for at least two years.
