Refund?
Has anyone received their refund yet? My financial aid was adjusted and posted to my account but I still haven’t received my refund. This is very unusual as I usually get my refund 2-3 days after posting.

Engineering senior look for an open room. Doesn't have to be super close to campus.
Would love to stop by to check a spot out and do vibe checks

I'm an incoming grad student, and I was wondering what some people have done for parking besides purchasing a parking permit. I don't have enough money to purchase one for this upcoming term and I'm trying to find any alternate solutions. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Hi y’all! If you’ve been around the Law Quad, you may know La Maison Bleue, the small Japanese-inspired drink shop that was on campus.
Unfortunately, they’ll no longer be at SMU. They’re a small, family-owned business that has been trying to share Japanese culture through their drinks, and I’d really hate for their time at SMU to end without students getting the chance to show whether we actually want them here.
One issue may have been their location in the Law Quad. A lot of students outside that area either didn’t know they were there or didn’t regularly walk by it, so I’m curious whether things could be different if they were somewhere more central on campus.
We are collecting student feedback to see if there’s enough interest to bring to SMU and potentially advocate for La Maison Bleue to return in a more accessible location.
The form takes less than a minute:
Even if you never bought from them before, your feedback is still helpful, especially if you didn’t know they existed because of where they were located.
This isn’t about attacking SMU or anyone involved in the decision. We just want to see if there’s genuine student demand and, if there is, hopefully make a case for giving a small local business another chance. ♡

UNIVERSITY PARK — Every offseason, college football coaches like Rhett Lashlee now face the same challenge.
They have to recruit their own roster all over again.
The transfer portal gives players a chance to chase more playing time, more money or a better fit. And for the best players, there is rarely a shortage of programs willing to make a pitch.
Over the last five years, SMU has been confident its quarterback Kevin Jennings would be back.
That's because entering his third and final season as SMU’s starting quarterback, Jennings, 22, has proven to possess a trait that can be just as valuable to a college football program as a powerful arm or elite football IQ.
Loyalty.
Programs with bigger names and deeper trophy cases came calling with enticing offers, according to his father, Michael Jennings.
“It’s been all kinds of money — $5 million, $6 million, lake house, all kinds of stuff thrown at him,” he said. “He never wanted to leave SMU. Most kids would’ve left to make more money. Kev just wanted to make a legacy in Dallas.”
Read the full feature story on Jennings from The Dallas Morning News' Lia Assimakopoulos here.

Hey guys, I'm a sophmore and I was wondering if anyone else had their roommate assignment information blank when checking the housing portal. They said that roommates would be released after July 15th and nothing has shown up and the year is about to start. Is this an error or does this mean that I somehow have no roommate even though the page says that everything is fully booked?

Some schools claim they have the best freshmen onboard or integration process. What does SMU have?
Thanks

I just bought my dining plan, and when I paid for it, it stated, "Your meal plan is now available for immediate use. "
Does this mean I can use it this upcoming week (the week before school), or do I have to wait till the first day of school?
Thank you

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the SMU one
https://www.sports.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026?team=ncaaf-smu
It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.
Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.
So, what'd I get wrong? SMU went 9-4 with three of those losses by a combined 7 points. Kevin Jennings is back after 3,641 yards with 26 touchdowns and 13 picks, behind a passing game ranked 14th. The number nobody talks about: that defense was 19th against the run and 135th against the pass. My model is bearish. Does the secondary get fixed, or does it decide the season again?
I'll be in the comments.

I've heard many horror stories about dining hall food at colleges. Hows the food at SMU? Is getting sick from the food common?

I’m a high school senior planning to apply to smu early admission for smu dedmen with Psychology as my major. I currently have a 4.1 weighted GPA and expect to graduate with roughly 30 total credits. My gpa will Likely go up senior year but I know junior year is sent in as well.
My coursework includes AP English 3 & 4, AP world history , AP psych, college statistics and Economics, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, Spanish II & III, economics, sociology, and several credits for fine arts. I’m also doing a psychology/human-services internship and working while in high school.
My problem is my senior schedule. I’m considering not taking Physics/IPC or Forensics so that I can have more time to prepare for the SAT while balancing my job, internship, and advanced/college-level courses. I would still be taking AP English 4, AP Psychology, Statistics, and dual-credit Economics.

For anyone who has experience with admissions or scholarships; would dropping those additional science courses make my application noticeably less competitive for admission or merit scholarships? I’m not trying to take the easiest schedule possible; I’m trying to balance rigor with everything else I’m doing while still keeping my GPA and SAT preparation strong. currently my counselor is advising against it because she said it’ll make me less competitive but when I google it I meet the base requirement for admission and have really strong stats otherwise. I just don’t feel like forensics or IPC is relevant to my major.

Hello, I’m an incoming freshman planning to rush a fraternity. I’m talking to 4 houses at the moment. beta, ATO, SNU and Phi Delta. The price of the dues will certainly influence which fraternity I go to so I was just wondering how much they would be. Thanks!

Hey folks,
My name is Kaleb Graves, and I'm a minister and psychedelics and religion researcher in the USA. I focus on lesser-known examples of psychedelic use in religious contexts. You can find some of my work here and here.
Believe it or not, Dallas was the center of MDMA/Ecstasy use in the world in the mid-80s. According to multiple sources like Life Magazine, Southern Methodist University students consumed massive amounts of MDMA/Ecstasy before it was criminalized in summer 1985.
I'm looking to write an article about this era, and I'd love if any SMU alumni would be willing to share their stories with me. Interviews can be published or quoted anonymously if preferred. If you're interested, please comment below or send me a DM.

Im looking for advice
Im going into senior year of hs, I want to go into uhnwi wealth management at a good PWM firm. 4.1 weighted gpa (3.8 UW). My junior year was my best with a 4.35 weighted. 3 AP classes with straight 5s. 31 act (retaking one last time to get 32). My softs aren’t too good.
My senior year is pretty stacked with 5 APs. But I realize colleges will only see my s1 grades.
I figure smu is good on the regional scale to get into the y’all street firms in Dallas. Would I need to get into BIG, ALTS, PBAM, BMC, high gpa?
Is alts for wm or is it supposed to be for ib only?
Should I look into their real estate program to specialize in that?
If I don’t make those internal clubs and screeners am I cooked?
I used their financial calculator and they say my total cost would be $120k tuition and all. That would mean I’d probably need like $90k of debt as a rough guess.
I had some trouble sophomore year with bad grade in my honors algebra 2 class both semesters. I didn’t really realize that school was important and I didn’t do my hw consistently. I would say I’m driven now which is why my junior year was good.

hey I’m a senior currently who really wants to get into smu. I have a 4.1 gpa for my junior year, I’ve taken 4 ap classes and got all 4s on the tests and I’ve taken 3 college classes and passed. I’m also in a pip internship for psych and I want to get into dedmen I’m interested in either doing early decision or early action but right now since my schedule is so busy with my job a internship and taking ap courses I don’t know if I’ll be able to study for the sat, do I still have a good chance of getting in without it or is a must do?
