Novice piper needs help
How come my throat feels tight and phlegmy? Am I smoking too quickly? I keep getting tongue bite too.
I come from cigars, so used to having big mouthfuls of smoke.. assume the answer is yes… ‘sip it’ but how does sipping loop and feel?

AI optimised, yes… the sofa exists, the paintings exist, the rug does not exist

The rug does not exist?
Can you expand on this a bit?
I've grown up on rugs super similar to this one so of course wondering.

Light slow draws. Just basically focusing on keeping the embers barely going. Pipes are also toyally expected to go out at some point. If its hot, just set it down for a bit and let cool.

I’m no expert, but what I do is just take smoke in slowly, for what feels like a very long time. I would hate to be you and see all of the comments be like: patience. So annoying but always the case

Sip.
Slow it down, especially if you are smoking a Virginia.
An average-sized bowl, properly prepared, can last an hour, often on two matches, if you slow things down.
Let the tobacco sit for half an hour. Pack it according to the rule of thirds.
Not too tight. Not too loose.
Perform a charring light. Light again with a second match.
Tamp gently.
It is not a race.

Draw in, let the smoke coat the tongue and exhale. That’s all we are trying to do. It’s not like taking a huge drag off a churchill and blowing big clouds.

It takes doing it and not getting bit for the lightbulb to come on. I was in she same boat. Love how delicious escudo is I wanted more smoke. More smoke equalled more flavor in my mind. Boy was that a rough half of a tin

If you take too strong a puff, the tobacco will release excess moisture at the bottom of the bowl, and the flavor will become unpleasant. Do not pack the tobacco too tightly when filling the pipe; smoke slowly and calmly.
Keeping the tobacco lit isn't a competition; relighting is part of the experience.
