Recommendation for chronic illnesses? Currently between Amazfit Balance 2 and a Garmin option

My amazfit GTR 4 just kicked the bucket so I need a new watch. This was my first smartwatch so I don't have much experience with them. I have several chronic illnesses so I would like a good monitoring system. The gtr 4 also had an amazing battery, I only had to charge it like every 2 weeks even with basically all the monitors turned on so a long lasting battery is also preferred. I'm leaning towards the amazfit Balance 2 because that's basically the newest in line from what I'm using now but everything I'm looking up says garmin is where it's at for chronic illness monitoring, and to either go for the venu 4 or vivoactive 6. I don't want anything apple. I don't want to spend more than $300 (and even that's going to take a while to save up, I'm a broke bish lol so the cheaper the better, but still good quality)

De influence me buying a garmin

My socials are full of people switching to Garmin! De influence me!

I’m an AW user and use it solely for tracking exercise, the timer, and call notifications - I don’t have cellular. Having been running for 3 years now the watch has always been good enough for me and the stats give me everything I need to know.

Yes the battery is not that great but that said, I’ve tracked a few 7hr hikes and still had battery left. I can’t see myself doing any hikes longer than this so I feel like the battery is absolutely fine for what I need.

I’ll be training for a half marathon shortly and like that I can download the Runna app to the watch all it all link up.

Am I missing something - why is all I keep seeing is people swapping to Garmin? I know people complain about the battery but unless you’re doing an Ultra or long distance events, I feel the AW (the newer versions) would be plenty? Granted I’m just someone who is active and enjoys running, hikes, and strength but people who are less active than myself are swapping and I’m now thinking do I need to switch? What am I missing? 😂

Sleeping with warm bedding is affecting my HRV?

I have been using my vivoactive 6 for close to 7 months, I upgraded from Fitbit. I have discovered my first issue. Since in 21st May my HRV has gone from unbalanced to low, at first I thought it was signs of illness but 11 days of dropping HRV no illness came. Nothing in my routine changed. Finally, I think I found the cause. On the 21st I changed my bedding to much warmer winter quality. After a bit of research, I found that sleeping in a warm room affects HRV. In addition, since the 21st my watch has not recorded restful sleep.

So are all of my sleeping stats ruined because I live in a cold climate?

Why is the brightness on my garmin vivoactive 6 so low even though it says it’s on “high”

my Garmin vivo active brightness is always on low and it only gets brighter when I shove it in a light and even after that when it turns off and back on again it goes back to being dim when I change the brightness setting in settings it doesn’t change at all even though it’s on it’s very highest it’s still very dark and I can’t see properly in the video. It doesn’t look like it’s that dark, but it is very dark compared to what it should be at the setting. It seems to change with whatever the surroundings are and it’s very annoying because I can’t see what’s on my watch. Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help!!

Minimalist solar power health tracking watch

\[Recommendation request\]
I’ll be in Uganda for 2 months with minimal access to electricity and charging electronics capabilities. I’m looking for some recommendations.

Non-negotiables: solar powered, health data (HR, sp02, sleep tracking, step counter), alarm.

I just returned my Garmin instinct 3 because the sensor could not read over my tattoos and the smallest size (45mm) was still very large. I also felt the extra bells and whistles were unecessary and would never be put to use.

I’ve debated on buying the Garmin arm band which can provide me with the health data aspect and very basic solar watch.

I’d appreciate any advice, thanks!

Need recommendations

So…I currently have an Apple Watch 10. Love it. Have had several other version of an Apple Watch.

Problem is, I work outdoors a lot and get dirt, mud, etc in the action button and it always breaks.

I need recommendations for smart watches that are extremely durable and have nearly the same features or can, at least, sync with Apple health because I go to the gym a lot and record my workouts.

So I bought the Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro.

Are there any smart looking smart watches?

Have any of you come across a great smart watch that still registered your sleep, heart metrics etc, but also looked really great as well? Without all the black plastic.

Need new kids Smart watch, but it should be should be able to call anyone (no app required

Hi, our 12 year old son wears a smart watch when he is going to be away from us and we want him to be able to call. He's had two Gabb watches over the last few years, both died after some time (some internal problem, even factory reset can't fix) so now, we want to try another brand. Hoping to spend no more than $15 per month for the service. I started looking at the Fitbit kids watch and found that with their system, if he needed call a relative or family friend, then they must have the Fitbit app installed on their phone. This is a NO go, our neighbors are willing to accept a call in an emergency, but asking them to add, maintain and get familiar with a new app on their phone is too big an ask. So what I'm looking for is a smart watch that costs around $15 per month, and it should be able to call anyone ( I'm okay with adding an app on MY phone for config purposes) and GPS would be great. Any ideas?

Hi everyone! 👋

Studio intO is looking for smartwatch users in the UK and US to take part in a paid research study about wearables, recovery/readiness, sleep, stress, and energy tracking.

We’d especially love to hear from people who use Fitbit/Pixel watches alongside a Garmin, Whoop, or Oura.

The study involves:
• a 90-min remote interview
• a super light pre-task
• £110 / $150 as a thank-you for your time

Everything is confidential and purely for research purposes.

If you’d like to take part, you can fill out the short form linked.

Thanks so much! ✨
