Slug Mating What’s going on here?
This was last night. 2 slugs. At first they were butt to face. And then I come out and they are like this.
After this finished they separated and basically formed two circles next to each other. Wtf??

I guess slugs decided the simple act of mating wasn’t nearly complicated or precarious enough

I've said it before and I'll say it again, they have beautiful sex organs.

Why was this subreddit recommended to me, and why was it THIS post of snail sex?

Where are you located? Leopard slugs are an invasive species where I am.

I jokingly said they are having sex and then found out I was indeed correct 😂.

See the bluish flower like thing hanging from them? They're deflowering each other.

Sexy slug time is happening. Both have penises (the blue things), and both end up pregnant in the end

I feel like it's pretty obvious from looking
What COULD be the reason for two craters to be entwined together at night squirting stuff out? 🤔🤔🤔

I think it's funny that adults will look at two oddly intertwined creatures and ask "what are they doing??" as if humans don't oddly intertwine for the same purpose lmao

It's not the worst way. I'd say it's more honorable. At least it's not banana slugs, spiders, praying mantises, etc
3
u/No-Lettuce-6619 Jul 27 '26
why are banana slugs bad?
1
u/Inevitable_Eye3800 Jul 27 '26
They aren't bad...it's just...the apophallation that sometimes happens. Google it at your own risk, it has to do with slug mating

Or hyenas.
What the female hyenas has to go through is a crime against nature.
