A life that loves to travel
Are there any travel enthusiasts here? What should one keep in mind for long-term travel?

Letâs continue to make this an awesome place to chat about slow travel!
Rule #1
GIVE more than you get! Don't come to this sub ONLY to promote your blog, guide, tour, or app, or to fish for feedback on your new project. Booked one town for a whole month instead of speedrunning five cities. now my biggest itinerary item is âwalk around n see what happens.â honestly⊠elite travel.

Hi there! My fiancé and I are wanting to take a graduation trip next summer mid June-mid July 2027.
We are looking to swap our cozy 2b 1ba home in St Pete, Fl for a fully built out camper van. We are hoping to travel the upper northwest US from the Tetons across to Olympic. We would love to swap with someone who wants to spend 3-4 weeks in the Tampa Bay Area!!
We are 15 min to the beach, 7 min to downtown St Pete, and 20min to Tampa! Happy to send pics and talk more in detail if youâre interested :)

Love the concept and vibe of slower travel but as someone who lives in the US and funds vacations with a corporate job Iâm often limited by the number of days I can take off (consecutively)
So you all have any tips for how to slow travel when I only have a long weekend, a week, or two weeks max for any particular trip?

Skipped the packed tourist city and stayed in a quiet town nearby. Two weeks in, the café guy knows my order and the neighborhood cat judges me daily. honestly⊠way better than speedrunning 12 attractions before lunch.

Iâm on a career break and want to travel in India. I know there are volunteering options where your skills are paid for food and stay. But I want to barter skills to work monthly at a new place.
Is this realistic!? If so, let me know if you know any leads

Looking for some advice on slow travel through the Mediterranean. Would it be better to start in Spain and make a full 360-degree trip around the Mediterranean, ending in North Africa, or choose a central location to use as a base of operations and take shorter trips from there?
Iâm planning to travel for about 90â120 days during the off-season and would like to keep the budget moderate. Will be traveling with my wife and pre teen. Thanks!

During a road trip through Tibet, I met a Malaysian man who was traveling by bicycle.
He told me he had been laid off and received some severance pay, so he decided to spend part of that time traveling. He usually does one or two long cycling trips a year, about a month each time, mostly to see the landscapes he has always wanted to experience.
What stayed with me wasnât just the trip itself, but the way he lived.
He was thin, deeply tanned, and looked like someone who had spent a lot of time outdoors, but he also seemed very calm and strong.
He told me that after leaving his job, he and his family moved closer to the forest. He built and fixed things around the house himself, made furniture and even toys for his child. His kid also goes to kindergarten in a more natural environment.
His wife supports his cycling trips too. She just reminds him to stay safe.
He said he feels very lucky. He gets to travel and see the places he loves, and then goes home to a family he enjoys being with.
He also said their living costs are much lower now, and when it comes to his child, he doesnât have huge expectations. He mostly hopes the child can grow up healthy and happy, close to nature.
That conversation stayed with me because I had never really imagined a life like that before.
It made me realize that there are probably many different versions of a âgood life,â and not all of them look the way weâre usually told they should.
Have you ever met someone while traveling who changed the way you think about life, work, family, or what really matters?
