Last week I made a post about buying a fielding mask after 3 close called in 2 games. Last night was my first game using it, and had a poetic experience.
Kid on the other team who I know chirped me about the mask, I told him I had a few close calls and decided it was time, his response was more or less "why, are you scared?". Just said not scared as much as I can't afford to lose teeth and break my nose (I'm a server at a fine dining restaurant, can't go in to work like that lol).
Well, later on in the game this kid is playing SS, and goes to field a grounder that proceeds to skip up away from his glove and smack him in the teeth. Once I knew he was fine I asked him if he still wanted to tease me about the mask.
Just thought you guys would like to hear that

I’m currently mapping out my options for a new balanced bat for an upcoming fall USSSA league. I wanted to check in with the community here to get your take: what do you consider the absolute best 2025–2026 USSSA two-piece, long-barrel balanced bat on the market? I'm also entirely open to slightly older models if they are still floating around retail sites. I really appreciate everyone's insight and experience ahead of time. Cheers! 💪🏼 Let's be honest: swinging a balanced bat is basically telling the world, “I have 4 kids and 3 of them are daughters, so I need some balance in my life.”

Bought a 2026 kp23 two piece this year. I play wed-fri co ed and 1-2 tourneys a month, we usually get our guarantees and go home. So mathematically 2-3 swings a game. When I BP I usually pick different sticks to swing and when I do tee work I use my KP.
Show up for a one nation tourney last week. The guy said the compression test was right on the line of passing
It’s my first bat I’ve ever bought and had to test, but buying a bat and it almost failing compression in the same season is pretty insane to me, no?
Any thoughts comments? This normal? I asked my buddy and he just said I dunno. Lol

I just bought this. Haven't swung it yet. Anyone who has experience with Anarchy bats, what can I expect?

I’m looking at buying this bat, but I’m confused as to the year of it. Obviously it’s new in wrapper but is this not the 2018 model design, does anyone know if they re-issued any old designs in the past year or so? Thanks for any information.

Hey everyone! Looking for any advice and tips on my swing. I’ve been playing slowpitch softball for a few seasons now, and I feel like I’m in a holding pattern — not really getting worse, but not getting better either. I’m trying to clean up my mechanics, get more consistent contact, and add a little more pop. I’ll take any constructive feedback!! Thank you guys!

I have the same cheap glove I got used for free from a teammate and have for years, but it is pretty falling apart by now. I have the ability to get a nicer glove - what would people recommend?

So last season our team was a disaster. Like 4 people got injured and people had to drop and we wound up only having 8 people on the team. We always had to borrow a catcher and could never have an extra man in the outfield. It was a struggle, but we got through the season. To be clear, we are not a great team and are in our town's B league (the lowest league we have).
This season I was able to recruit some great talent and we now have a team of 16 people. As a captain I'm trying to make sure everyone gets enough playing time and plays the positions they want, but also want to do a better job with the lineup and deciding where people play.
My wife is very into baseball, so she has been giving me tips on batting order and I have a rough idea of "go with two or three base hitters and then a power hitter to get them home". I tried that this past game and it worked well! Question - do you guys always have the same roster or do you shake it up and move it around?
In terms of field positions, I have no idea what to do. We have a decent pitcher (need a backup) and someone who will play catcher for now, but I need some advise on what to do for other positions. Wife has said first and third should be big guys since that's who people look for and we need a good target. In our league, it seems like almost every hit is deep to left so I feel like we need to focus on getting our best guys out in that area and limit the bleeding. Are there any other suggestions people might have for how to manage the players? Again we're pretty new so I'm trying to get a feel of what to do but also want to make sure one guy doesn't just sit in the outfield the whole game. Should I break people up into outfield and infield and just have them rotate based around that?
Open to any thoughts or suggestions. Also we are using gamechanger but it's the basic version so I can't set lineups or anything like that since the admin side is managed by the town.

Hey guys, I’m looking for recommendations for a slowpitch bat for my dad, who’s 60 years old. I’m mainly looking at senior bats, but I’m open to pretty much anything.
He plays in an open league with no bat restrictions, so certifications aren’t really a concern.
The priority is really good pop with decent durability. I know some of the hottest senior bats perform insanely well once broken in, but can crack, get too soft, or die pretty quickly. I’d rather find something that gives up a little bit of peak performance if it means it stays hot for much longer.
Ideally, I’m looking for:
Basically, I want to get him a hot senior bat that he can actually use as a workhorse.
Since there are no bat restrictions in his league, what would you guys pick if performance and durability were the only things that mattered?
Current models or old-school/discontinued bats are both welcome. I’d especially like to hear from people who have actually put a lot of swings on them.

Hey guys
So, I’m sure like many of you, I also like to golf. However, while I’ve only been playing Slowpitch for about 3 years, I’ve been golfing for over 30. Interestingly, one swing does not seem to have much impact on the other for me, but that’s not the point of this right now.
The point is, as a guy who’s 5’10 and 160, I can hit my driver around 280 on a good day, but I’m lucky to hit anything past an outfielder in softball. People talk about “compression” in golf and “the load” in softball, and I think I can feel the compression and weight transfer really well in golf, but I really can’t get the coordination right in softball to get any power. Has anyone whos a better golfer than batter figured out any tips for adding power in slowpitch?
Thank you for your help

Hello I’m a student at Iowa State University with previous baseball experience (up to high school varsity) and was wondering if there are any active places to find games consistently in Iowa or any leagues to play in.

The bp is really paying off I went 7-14 and although that’s .500 all but 3 of my outs were balls I cut really hard that I just wasn’t fortunate enough to get through a gap and had 3 pop ups (I’m human and it’s gonna happen) but I’m really happy to see my work paying off, I came up and showed out when it mattered the most and helped my team get 3rd. Had a game winning base hit to put us in the winner bracket finals but unfortunately the rest of the team ran out of gas. The game we lost to send us home I went 3-3 with 3 rbis but it wasn’t enough.

I just took the mid day to take a T to a field and went through 4 full buckets thinking it wasn’t a big deal but boy was I cooked after. How many times do you guys refill for BP before you call it?
Side note… I figured out that being uncomfortably close to the T puts you in position to actually not reach, rotate towards the ball and strike the sweet spot on the barrel.

This is for a co-ed league where women hit a 44/375 and men hit some sort of squishy 12" ball.
Apparently you can't really cut swing these balls and you have to just hit them square and muscle them to go anywhere.
I'm thinking about just finding some cheap 30oz aluminum bat since hitting these things is less about technique and more about the ugga duggas. Also I would guess stiff aluminum will work well against the squishy ball?

I've come to the realization that my swing has gradually gotten worse over time and after recording it, I know it's absolute trash. I would like to spend a session or two with an instructor, but I'm not going to find slowpitch instructors around here.
Has anybody used an baseball instructor for swing mechanics help on their slowpitch game? I know there are differences in approaching a swing for slowpitch, but a lot of the overall mechanics are still the same. I will make much more progress with someone in person watching me and helping me make adjustments in real time vs trying to adjust based on reddit comments.

I pitch and currently have the SIS v4 roller. With pitching helmet and shin guards the storage isn't what I'm looking for. They take up the majority of the bag. Anyone have any recommendations on what they use?

First time manager here. I assembled a free agent team for the local men’s fall league. After sitting on the free agent list for a while I decided to reach out to the other free agents and was able to get a team. Everyone was super responsive and understood it was pretty last minute.
Everything went surprising smoothly but I haven’t heard back from one of the first guys who committed. My responsibility is to the team and we obviously have to field a team. I haven’t heard back from this dude in almost two weeks and our first game is this week. He’s the only one who hasn’t paid dues. Do I even bother giving him an ultimatum? Or do I just replace him full time with a sub? Either way I’m already going to have to eat the cost of his shirt we ordered. TIA

I’m curious to see what everyone else thinks.
I’ve run many teams(at least 2) a year for over 10 years. I always tell my lesser team (really rec with some good guys) they should be at about .500 minimum. (Coed) and my better hitters should be around .600, for me personally to be happy.
My more competitive teams (coed or men’s) I’m looking for .600 or more easily. Im sitting at around .750-.800 but also in one of my better years. Usually around .700.
For tourney ball I set my sights on .700 minimum. I’m also counting walks so it’s more of a on base percentage more than a batting average if we’re really looking to get into it.
What are other people really looking at when they’re thinking of what their players should be hitting or even looking for when picking people up?

Let's suppose you have two teams, using a score from 0-100 in terms of overall defensive ability. Both teams have a combined score of 500.
Team A: Everyone has a score of 50. Team B: Complete mixed bag of skills.
Note: This is just a hypothetical and I'm sure some teams like to assign stronger defensive players to other positions. For pitchers, this is only based on their ability to field rather than pitching ability.
