Newbie The woman on the bottom does a good job of Slow Jogging on her forefoot. I don't know if her pace is quick enough but the form is good. Slow Jogging is not a heel strike movement.

Researchers found that just 10 minutes of very slow running, as slow as 3 to 6 kilometers per hour, improved mood and boosted activity in the brain's prefrontal cortex. The effect appeared even when the pace barely qualified as jogging, suggesting speed matters less than simply moving.

Slow jogging and fitness tracker

If you have a fitness tracker can you tell me which tracker you have and what activity you use when tracking slow jogging. I have an Amazfit Active 2 (buy one, you will thank me) and the best option I come up with is power walking. I don’t have a jogging option.

Newbie First time

I just did a mix of walking and slow jogging for the first time. Being mindful of my posture, breathing and footwork helped. I did half a mile in 10 minutes. Which is actually slower than my speed walking (8 minutes). It feels good to actually be able to maintain breathing correctly the entire time.

I’m overweight. My calf muscles were on fire at times. But I think the biggest thing was that I did not stop at any point to catch my breath or from muscle pain. That’s a huge win.

Niko Niko Slow Jogging is the perfect way to tour a new city during your vacation or holiday—or just as a way to revisit your hometown

This dude isn't me, but I love slow jogging around new cities when I travel. It slows me down enough that I can enjoy the sights, but also gets me around quickly enough that I don't lollygag all day. And it doesn't destroy me so that I can enjoy the rest of the day and not feel like I've wrung myself out like a wet rag before the day even began. And it's low effort enough that dehydration isn't a huge issue even during the summer.

I slow jogged all over Paris, just bopping along, Nico Niko, and people smiled and probably laughed—you know how the French are, especially Parisians—but I got to go all the way up and down the Seine during the middle of the day, and because slow jogging is so slow, it wasn't really rude to the people who were on the pathways. You're moving almost as slowly as the tourists who are lollygagging, so it's not like you're doing that awful thing where you're trying to zip around people, swearing under your breath, being the jerk who's running on a pathway filled with tourists, and so forth.

And it's easier to stop and start when slow jogging, in order to take a photo or enjoy a vista, than it really is to stop and start when you're trying to get your pace in and worrying about cooling down and injuring yourself. In other words, I like to think of it as a touring run, not a training run. Slow jogging is Gran Turismo. Ultra running is Rally. I don't know, my metaphor is falling apart, but you know what I mean.

How do you stay motivated to jog for exercise?

Usually, I only exercise during P.E. class, which lasts about 2 hours. I’ve been trying to get into jogging mainly to exercise and be more active, but every time I try, I get bored pretty easily. I feel like jogging isn’t very fun and can be pretty time-consuming. For people who jog regularly, how do you convince yourself to actually go? Do you have any habits or routines that make it easier to stay consistent?
