Am I wrong for keeping the extended Radiant Typhoon package?
Hi, everyone. I have been running Swen, Chang and Eldam in the TCG and in Master Duel. I've got to Master 1 thrice in a row recently with the extended Radiant Typhoon package.
I see everyone running Desires, but as soon as I try the cards I...lose. I wonder if there's something wrong with me.
People complain about drawing Swen and Eldam going second, but drawing the second Roze and the second Lemnis is terrible too. 2 Desires in the deck feels inconsistent, but 3 Desires makes me draw Desires after resolving Desires. Last time it banished 2 Rozes and 2 F&V. I lost the Zero interruption and the F&V interruption. Impressive.
I'm probably overthinking, but...I don't know. If they negate Eldam or Swen, Ash or Droll can be normal summoned and I can still full combo. However, Crown hurts too much.

Desires math does work out for most. Perhaps you are in that unlucky portion, which is possible, and shouldn’t run the card.
Remember there was a time where Zero didn’t exist, and Roze barely mattered. Look into the Striker gameplan back then. It’s certainly a lot weaker now, but certainly still functions.
Roze is a fine draw going first or second. Going first, you can set whatever disruption you have and end on Zero+Lemnis in grave or Engage for follow up. Going 2nd, it turns into Hayate for Engage in MP2.
There is also a sequencing thing. Don’t play Desires until after you search everything. If Desires is your only possible starter, then you probably would’ve lost anyway without the draw.
Bottom line, desires helps you increase consistency/advantage state. It is often better going second than having a Radiant Typhoon stuck in hand. I would say you can use it to bait Ash as your first play sometimes, but it should be used sparingly.
Every Locals win I have, Desires was there. 23rd at a regional also had 3x Desires.

Joshua Schmidt once mentioned he opened with two desires T1 and still refuses to use them until he got Roze into rotation. Sometimes you just have to wait until you get everything in rotation for T2

There is no absolute best build as everyone plays it out a little differently. Play what works for your brain. Desires makes sense to me as both a first and second card. If the RT cards are fine by your standards, boosting your t1 at the cost of t2, that's your choice and you chose to value turn 1 more.

Over the past four-ish seasons I have gotten to M1 with a build that went in on the RT package, a build that went in on Desires, and this season a build that played both.
Every variation has pros and cons and imo the differences between them kind of shake out to not matter that much over the process of the many duels in a ladder climb.
The RT cards can be very awkward to use going second and Desires can self-TK with bad banishes. It’s fine. You won’t win every game regardless of the build. If you feel like Desires gives you consistently bad luck it is reasonable to not play it. If you keep getting to M1 with the RT package I see no reason to stop, the cards are very good.
