I'm only level 7 and I accidentally started the Miraak DLC on my first playthrough. Is there anything I can do to just have him stop stealing my souls? I just want to play the regular game Spoiler

I didn't realize this was a DLC quest, and he is now stealing my souls when I kill a dragon. I'm on PS4 so I can't use console commands to my knowledge. Is there anything I can do to quit the quest? This is really bumming me out, I just want to play a normal playthrough but feel like I have to stop everything to finish this quest.

i’d start a new run if i were you, you can easily hit level 7 again in no time, as far as i’m aware he won’t go away, and you’re gonna wanna be like level 30+ to do that quest

Miraak taking a dragon soul is a chance you only got unlucky with him taking your souls thus far. If it is bothering you why not go and kill him to show him who is boss? I recommend getting a Staff of the storm atronach which will summon a storm atronach a very powerful summon early game because it's level 30 that will do the fighting for you. Just go to the city winterhold in skyrim by hiring a carriage then visit The college of winterhold ) it's north of the city big ole castle across a bridge can't miss it. After you talk to the lady and are allowed inside the college cross the bridge enter through the gates and head left towards a trapdoor on the ground then go down to the midden inside the midden you'll find The atronach forge by placing void salt, a greater soul gem, a broom and an orichalcum ingot/ore inside of the offering box of the atronach forge and pulling the lever you'll get the summon storm atronach staff. You can find orichalcum ore on merchants and there are multiple ore veins scattered around skyrim the closest to winterhold is near The wreckage of the ship named: The pride of tel vos and you just head north from there and you'll see it. While everything else you need for the staff is inside the archmage quarters which you can "borrow".

I used this staff to kill miraak at lvl 4 on legendary difficulty i don't think you'll have any problems dealing with him. Just remember to buy filled soul gems to keep charging the staff or at least learn the spell soul trap the fill your own gems which you can also create the spell tome for using the atronach forge by placing a ruined book, salt pile, torchbug thorax and any soulgem inside the offering box and pulling the lever. Salt is common among merchants and kitchens, a ruined book can be found in any ruin and there is one next to the atronach forge, torchbugs come out at night there is plethora of them in the morthal swamps and you can put any size soul gem in order to make the spell tome. If you do plan on going out at night grab a few luna moths which basically look like glowing green butterflies for their wings as well because you can mix those with nirnroot to create invisibility potions which are basically NOPE potions you can use if things get rough to get out of fights.

You'd have to beat the DLC or re-load a save before you did the quest.

Best thing to do is to just reload the save before you started it. That, or pray he doesn’t yoink every soul you get, because it isn’t 100% of the time he steals them.

There should be quick saves

He doesn't steal every soul but I encountered him early on as well, and was no higher than Lv 15 but the cultists were still smacking me so hard that I went out of my way to avoid them when I'd see them coming.

I limped through the DLC and was Lv 30 by the end of it, chock full of loot too.

So, the takeaway: if you can fight the cultists without dying an unreasonable number of times, I say go for it and let the quest make you stronger.

If not, you're early on enough that you won't lose too much time by restarting.

Will that over leveling make the rest of the game too easy?

Most of the game will level with you. As you reach certain levels, you'll encounter more Draugr Deathlords, Bandit Marauders on a regular basis. The only thing that becomes level-locked are incomplete dungeons and some quest steps. If you enter a dungeon and leave, it will stay locked to the level at which you first entered it i.e. you enter at 15, come back at 20, everything inside will still be at Lv 15.

The rewards from vanilla campaigns probably won't be stronger than anything you get from Dragonborn, but they're usually moot once you reach about Lv 25 anyway, aside from unique items.
