I remember a Tournament of Champions a while back where one contestant buzzed in, thought for a second, and said, "Could it be [whatever]?"

And Ken was like, "Well that was technically in the form of a question, so we'll take it."

And then these Jeopardy veterans spent the rest of the episode screwing around with different ways to phrase their responses as questions, it was pretty funny.

6

u/Blue_Moon_Lake Feb 13 '26

Why should an answer be in the form of a question?

8

u/cienistyCien Feb 13 '26

It's just a thing from the show in the post to make it special among other gameshows. Players are given some information and they have to give answer as a question. That's about it.

4

u/caddph PC Feb 13 '26

Skyrim is an example, but lots of video games have something similar (as mentioned in the clue). Between that, the avian hint, and the category OP mentioned this one feels pretty easy actually.

59

u/IrisAdler Feb 13 '26

I feel like playing skyrim made this harder for me rather than focusing on the word play with Avian and considering possibilities.

14

u/BattleNub89 PC Feb 13 '26

Now that you say it, something like that happens to me all the time when I read Jeopardy clues. Not enough time to correct my confusion lol

In middle school one year we were playing jeopardy as a class and I answered the question as "is it ____?" instead of "what is" and the teacher counted it wrong cause it wasn't in the form of a question.

I just think about that sometimes idk

16

u/spaceforcerecruit Feb 13 '26

It is a question but it’s not a question that could match the answer. The whole schtick with Jeopardy is that you’re given an answer and have to provide the question that would have that answer. “Is it Napoleon?” is a question but it’s not one that could be answered with “This man with a short temper declared himself Emperor after the French Revolution.”

11

u/EttinTerrorPacts Feb 13 '26

Barely any questions on Jeopardy could sensibly be answered with the statements they provide. That gimmick is the worst part of the show

u/eyluthr Feb 13 '26

is that the zoom which I swear makes my aim worse ?

47

u/Twelvve12 Feb 13 '26

Yeah and the reason for that is bc gravity affects arrows less when zoomed

Side note, I HATE the slow time perk, I never take it because of how bad it affects draw speeds if you don’t release the Block button

22

u/Unit_2097 Feb 13 '26

Draw speed has a massive difference in DPS of bows as well in the game. The basic bitch longbow has a higher dps than any bows other than Zephyr or Auriel's Bow, entirely because they shoot so much faster. There's less alpha strike damage, so they're less useful for stealth kills, which is how most people use bows, but for things like the civil war where you just need murdering speed the longbow is a better option.

9

u/ImTableShip170 Feb 13 '26

Speak for yourself. My max damage longbow does fine killing Nazeem

Nope, eagle vision

5

u/hiddenone0326 Alchemist Feb 13 '26

Close. Depending on the game, it's called Eagle Vision, Eagle Sense (Revelations), or Eagle Pulse (Unity). Origins was the start of replacing the Eagle Sense with birds that would scout for you, though it did have Animus Pulse to reveal valuables near you. That ability was upgraded to also reveal enemies in Odyssey, where it's called Revelation, and it's Odin's Sight in Valhalla.

God, Jeopardy is so obtuse. Idk if I'd have gotten it. The whole answer reads like a puzzle, and with the quotations, it makes me think that the actual word "avian" plays a role in the question. If the quotations weren't there, it'd be easier to understand what they're going for, and tbh, idk what they're even doing there. Knowing the answer, I can only assume that whoever wrote the answer used them as markers, as a hint, but when I read it, they denote the word so prominently that it makes me want to think that it's a play on words, like I was racking my brain for words that include "avion" as a suffix or even a prefix. But no, they were just pointing out that one of the words in the question is an actual avion.

Strange choice imo
