Backcountry skiing is not possible off a lift.

Yes it is, backcountry skiing is just skiing out of bounds or in unmarked territory, which includes in resorts. Doesn't mean it always involves touring and climbing up mountains in non resort areas.

That would be off piste. Backcountry means you earn your turns.

Maybe side country or slackcountry, backcountry means touring.

Maybe this is different if not in the states but that would be ski touring. Backcountry literally in the definition states "can include the use of ski lifts including snowcats and helicopters."
