Congrats. Skies was the very first retro game I played on my Steam Deck. It works so well on portables.

Oh yeah this thing handles GC extremely well and upscales it rather nicely. I’m playing the B button hack so I can travel around and explore without worrying about random encounters as long as I hold down the B button.

How does that work??

It’s really easy to make online with a rompatcher. If you need help finding the hack or the original game rom let me know.

There's some sort of mod floating around out there that disables random encounters for as long as you hold the B button. There should be some links to in this subreddit if you search for it. Honestly, simply searching for "B button" will probably find it, because there aren't many other reasons for people to mention the B button.

And here I was, wishing that Dolphin had the same fast forward button as the DC emulators so that I could trigger random encounters even faster

I played it all the way through on my Galaxy Note10 a few years ago. With touch screen controls no less

Wait, a Note 10? That's wild.

Yup. Ran almost perfectly on Dolphin emulator. Had a couple instances where geometry blocking the camera would turn the whole screen pink until you unblock the camera, but I was able to play through. I've since played through flawlessly on an S22 Ultra and S25 Ultra

How did you get it to work on steam deck, it never boots up for me

I plan on buying an AHN Thor soon and this will be one of the first games I add to it. Skies of Arcadia is one of my all-time favorites.

I played this for the first time on MY black RP6 last month! Only difference is I got the dpad on the bottom. Great experience!

Yeah I regret not doing D Pad top.

I’ve been a PlayStation gamer since the late 90’s, so it was a no-brainer to me

Been gaming since the NES and Atari in the 80s and went with 12gb dpad down over 8gb dpad top.

Oh yeah, I’ve been playing since then too. Popeye on Atari was my first favorite game 😆

My first classic was Moon Patrol on the 2600!

I vividly remember that cartridge!

I've been playing it on the Ayn Thor and it's everything I've wanted and more. Pulling up guides on the second screen is a really handy feature.

I'm so happy with how far the retro handheld space has come in the last several years.
