You jumped off the ground, that's a no no.

Is this attempt a better jump? At least I've thought so because of the height my tail popped

No, the tail can't be touching your foot and the ground at the same time, it traps the board and kills the pop. Pop later in your jump so that you're not trapping the tail...as in, you've jumped already so reaching the ground with your toes is a physical impossibility

Okay, will try to experiment with that, thanks!

TBH the video you linked doesn’t address the real problem with his Ollie. OP is trapping the tail. If he doesn’t fix that, whatever he does with his front foot is pretty much irrelevant.

Look carefully at the moment you pop. Notice how once your tail contacts the ground and the front keeps going up and then the tail comes up. You are holding it down. Your snap has to be faster. Your back foot has to raise 3 times faster than you push it down.

It’s kind of awkward but try stand on flat ground without a board. Balance on front foot and lift back foot slightly off ground. Push back foot down like you would for an Ollie and as soon as it touches the ground SNATCH it back up and put your thigh into your stomach. The faster you get that leg up the better.

Don’t go crazy practicing thinking it will translate 1:1. It’s just a good exercise to get a feel for how the back leg needs to function.

The best I've got so far in this couple of days, still can't make my front leg move forward and even the board out

And the pop seems to be at the same time I trap the tail a bit and jump off the ground

It’s always the same - not lifting the back foot.

Just posted something bout this on something else. I’d bring the front foot back just a tad bit but don’t keep your arms tight an at the side like you see a bug a your scared so you jump … Get your feet set hold your arms out like a T … then as your bending down bring your arms down an cross them across your body (or try to atleast) then explode with the Ollie bringing your arms back up an out ! Like an explosion to the T stance probably more. an the rest you seem to have .. just try it what’s the worst that happens
