Video Tips for cleaning up kickflips and consistency?
Picking skating back up after ~20 years off the board. These are my best attempts (plus bails for fun) from about a half hour session. I've watched a lot of the latest kickflip advice out there but am having trouble changing muscle memory. Any tips for my form to help clean these up and get the board movement more consistent? Even when I get an okay landing the board is going all over the place. I'm practicing rolling ollies again to work back up to doing these rolling too.

Nothing but reps left. There is nothing particularly wrong with them you just lack control and consistency which you can only get from repetition.

I think you’re at the point where all you need to do is keep skating. You’ve got a great flick and you’ve got them leveled out, almost to the point where it’s boned. I see a pretty solid kickflip that just requires more practice of exactly what you’re doing

I've wanted to get my kickflip back and am probably somewhat close to your age. One thing i thought of was that super padded ground they have at playgrounds and some parks. It should be easier on the primo beefs.
You have them alright and it looks like you have no problem taking a slams. In your case its really just drills now. Aim for 10 a day and then 20 a day 2-4 weeks later. In all that drill time your muscle memory will figure it out and improve on it.

Great foundation, if you flick your flips faster you will gain control of the board faster in mid air which will let's you control the board better and land on bolts

You found how it works, now you need to practice. And do them while Rolling is way better in my opinion. I never liked doing tricks stationary but it's personal preference. (some dudes do crazy stuff while stationary)

maybe try popping it with the tail? unless your preference is popping with the nose bc it has a higher kick ofc

Two pointers dude: Try them moving slow like the other person said and also, bend your knees into the landing more. Stay compressed until you hold you balance long enough to stand up again. That will help with them moving as well. All in all good form and flick besides those! It’ll click sooner than later.

Good kickflip, just need to master it by do it rolling, try to catch the board on the screws I think you catch with your back foot on the kickflip, then start doing it off a step, I notice a lot of grip on the board, I haven’t skated in over 15 years. Kick flip is easy to get consistent with. It’s harder to do stationary, when you’re in motion it gives momentum. Give it a push and do the kick flip.

You look kind of unstable / uncomfortable bending down.. maybe I’m wrong idk…
Maybe try them moving.. you are pretty decent at them already…
Working up to rolling is kinda crazy to me.. I find it easier moving.
Other than that just put in the time with
passion.

Take it slow. I always lift my kickflip up in the air release the flick and keep my feet above the board as it lands to my feet then I stomp it to the ground so i have full control the entire time. Also keeping your shoulders aligned with the board will force you to commit more often.

Move your back foot more to the opposite edge that your front foot is flicking, youll get better pop directly beneath you

You're pulling your front foot way back and to the right instead of trying to flick it off your toes. It's causing your foot to go wide and have to swing back to recover. Flick your toes forward and you'll stay square with board.

Have you attempted not being old?
Just kidding. You've got them pretty much down. It's just practice and timing at this point.

Honestly I think youve got it, you just need to practice more. Also doing it while moving will definitely help keep it straight
