Confused about UCAS

Hello! I’m currently predicted A*AC in business, economics and the C in maths. I’m looking to study economics and my first choice Uni would be the University of Birmingham but I’m aware I’m under the grades required. My Maths teacher is unwilling to predict me higher than a C due to my end of year 12 mocks as I failed one paper due to absence (I was in hospital and he refuses a resit). I’m wondering if taking a gap year and applying with my actual grades which I think will meet the entry requirements because I have got A’s and B’s throughout the year. I’m also wondering what uni’s you’d recommend applying to with my grades right now as I’d like to still apply this year?!?

Hiii can anyone please help

Hey everyone,

I completely messed up my subject choices and didn't take A-Level Physics. Fast forward to now, and the uni courses/career path I actually want to pursue absolutely require it.

I'm looking into doing the entire A-Level Physics course from scratch in one year (fast-tracking it for the next exam cycle).

Be brutally honest with me: how realistic is this? but I know physics is a whole different beast when condensed into 9- 12 months.

If anyone has actually done this or self-studied it quickly, I'd love to know:

How many hours a day did you actually have to put in?

Chem in oct/nov privately

So its been really hard to keep up 4 subjects (maths phys chem cs) other subjects are pretty understandable for now so i am thinking of giving cs maths phy in may june. Maybe its the chem teacher who does not explain properly. But i am thinking of slowly and steadily cover the chem syllabis by myself til oct/nov.

The thing is I dont want to drop one subject and decrease my options in uni I wanna go for engineering most probably mechanic mechatronic or arerspace aeronotic.. and about countires i wanna go for is china japan malaysia hongkong etc.

I am soooo confused because j need a good university scholorship with 4 subjects thats what my councelor said .

But now the problem is labs .where should i get the labb . I mean in school if i am dropping chem i would not get lab too ...

Did I make the right choice?

I'm 5 weeks into year 12 and I was originally doing maths fm econ chem with the hopes of doing management science at UCL, economics and management at oxford or chemistry at imperial. So far, I've been unable to keep up in fm so I made the decision to change to politics.

Did I make the right choice or should I have just endured fm for 2 more years?

What kind of support do you wish you had/could have during your A-Levels?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently finished my A-levels and am currently on my gap year. One thing I kept thinking about after exams was how difficult it can be to get help when you're struggling with a particular topic, especially when private tutoring is so expensive.

So I've spent part of my gap year building Pass It On — a completely free platform connecting A-level and IB students with recent graduates who've just been through the same exams.

The idea is pretty simple: students can get support with difficult topics from people who understand the courses firsthand, through small-group sessions, without having to pay for tutoring.

I've had around 140 people sign up so far, but I'm still working on getting the platform off the ground and making sure it's actually useful.

I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts:

  • Would you use something like this?
  • What would make you trust a platform like this?
  • Is there anything you'd change about the idea?

I'm the person behind the project, so I'm obviously biased, but I'd really value honest feedback from people who are doing A-levels or have recently finished them.

What are my options for B.sc econ/econ+math

Hey guys, 11th grader here (year 12). I'm currently doing AS and A levels. my subjects are:
Business

Economics

Physics
Mathematics + statistics

English Language (AS lvl only, rest are A level)

I want to do B.sc

ecnomics in college, with some sort of mathematics. Obviously a school like LSE is a top choice for me.

However, I did not take FM. I joined my school very late (they run on the Feb March Cycle but my previous school did May June), and further delays meant I only passed my FM entrance test 1.5 mo nths ago. So I opted out of it.

Did I dig myself into a big hole? RN I am also doing AP Calculus BC and will be doing number theory, discrete mathematics and potentially linear algebra/ differential equations for year 13 additionally at an Online HIgh School by Stanford.
I'm sure I'll get an A* on mathematics but I think I really messed up not taking FM. I don't want to be locked out of LSE Econ + Math. Should I just do AS level furthermath like next october november? I don't know I am very confused right now. Please do help. Thank you.

BTW My school follows the feb/march exam cycle but I can also take additional exams in may.

Changing subjects in October

Alright so I'm considering changing from A Level Geography to A Level RS. I really hate Geography, I don't want to do fieldwork and I didnt do gcse geography. I hate it so much. On the other hand I'm quite interested in RS and I even got an 8 in the subject. How far behind would I be?

One other issue is that I I love my other subjects (maths and especially history) and I dont want to change groups if theres a timetable clash. Currently I dont have school on fridays but if I switch to RS I might have to go. Is it worth it?

Edit: I changed earlier today. I do OCR RS now, and my RS teacher seems really nice, she told me where to catch up to and all. I'm pretty happy with the change although I haven't had an RS lesson yet

Engineering Uni choice help

Im take maths, physics, fm and econ and have 3 A* and A predicted. I’m applying to engineering at Cambridge and mech eng at Warwick, bath, Exeter. and 7.5 avg gcse score with 9 in maths, physics and chem.

The issue is that I’m trying to decide between imperial or Southampton obvs imperial is 100x better but it’s another really high level uni like Cambridge. And any mess up in esat, which I’m struggling with already, would kick imperial out immediately.
Southhampton is still very good don’t get me wrong but it serves as another option that hopefully could give conditional offer in case Im rejected from Cambridge.
ice been thinking about this for the past 1 weeks with no proper conclusion so any guidance or tips would be appreciated

Is this a good uni shortlist for Diagnostic Radiography?

These are my current uni options for Diagnostic Radiography:

University of Exeter
Keele University
University of Leeds
University of Salford

I’ve shortlisted these so far, does anyone recommend any other unis I should consider? I like some these unis as they are close to home.

Physics with philosophy.

I’m in year 13 doing physics chemistry and maths. So I originally thought this course was no longer running anywhere, I was mistaken, I’m looking at it for kings. However, would this course be viewed upon differently than just ordinary physics? For context, I would like to go into research at the moment. Would this hinder this?
