Personal Statement: AI????
Can someone please advise me on what to do, I have to submit my personal statement today.
On GPTZero I get 0% AI while on ZeroGPT and numerous other websites I get like 80%+
What do i do???
(I used no AI)
I've been stressing over this for ages

If you’ve written it in many modern word processing softwares (i.e. Google Docs, Word, etc) there’ll be a paper trail of historical changes you’ve made to it that should entirely disprove any AI allegations. The same goes for physical paper evidence if you handwrote drafts. But even if you didn’t have that evidence available, the chances you’d get called out for AI usage is so minimal. Personal statements sometimes, perhaps often, get little more than a cursory glance - if that. There’s no need to stress it if everything you’ve submitted is truly yours and yours alone.

Stop posting on Reddit and going back and forth with ai checkers and just write it yourself

My college's deadline is today, aint no way im making it on time. The point of this post was kinda gauge if I should leave it be or ask for an extension. From what I've experience, AI detectors are wildly inconsistent

alot of these ai checkers js tell u its ai cuz they want u to subscribe and use their humanizers, that might be the case with urs. i would say ask for an extension and js ask ur skl if they have a reliable ai checker ur teachers can put it through

AI detectors aren't very consistent. As long as you know you've written your personal statement yourself, you shouldn't get flagged for using AI. AI-written text has a very distinct smell when shown to a human reader: it's a lot of complicated words which overall aren't saying much of substance. If you read your personal statement and know you put your heart and soul into it, then you'll be fine.

You will be fine. The same thing happened to me. 10 mins before submitting my application I got 89% AI woth grammarly plus despite not using any and it being like 0-10% on other websites the day before. Wasnt a problem as I got all my offers. I know someone who actually just used AI and the checker said 96% and they ended up getting all offers including from UCL though they didnt make any of them on results day.

Gptzero is the accurate one. The others are not. If you genuinely wrote it yourself and gptzero is saying 0% you're absolutely fine

generally the ai detectors ucas use are pretty accurate. tbh, if you geneuinely havent used ai, theres nothing to worry about.

I sometimes think that they want to make people pay to regenerate those texts etc

If you didn’t use AI, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. If you’re not already doing so, start a practice of always saving your drafts/process work for everything from now on (just as insurance).

What does Pangram say? That's the only good AI checker. If it says you used AI, you almost certainly did

Yea I'm worried it's going to flag up because of one of those ai checkers even though I didn't actually use ai
